Up early and Dresden suburb recordings made...

...before driving to nearby Meissen for breakfast...

We parked after a long search for a suitable spot and took the funicular back up to the old town...

...for a look around...

Good views...

Through this archway, steps led down from the hill into the heart of the old town...

...and breakfast was enjoyed in the market square...

...before we took a look around ...

Everyone loves a church...

Oooh - these look sore...

Everyone loves a triptych...

Back out into the, once again, hot sun...

We made our way back to the steps...

...and enjoyed more good views on the climb back up...

...to the top of the town...

A look around the cathedral environs...

A mens' choir gave an impromptu performance in front  of its doors...

A quite beautiful corner of the world - one of so many on this trip...

Down to the car...

...followed by a further drive to the little town of Moritzburg and its, frankly enchanting,  palace on a lake...

Inside looking out...

Full entry secured...

I'll let the pictures do the talking for the most [art - suffice to say the palace is absiolutly stuffed full of goodies...

Full info here if you're interested - Schloss Moritzburg...

I was chastised for taking a picture of these children...

I/m sorry but if you don't want people to take pictures, don't dress them up in historical costumes and parade them through the building...

All of this was found buried in the woods surrounding the palace after WWII...

As we neared the exit, the seemingly never-ending display of stuff continued...

We liked this fish...

...out...

A restful seat in the gardens...

...with further views...

Then, goodbye to the ducks...

...and into the town itself - which, as expected, could not compete...

A German lunch...

...with alchohol free Bier for your driver...

We drove back to Dresden to our parking place of choice...

I liked our wee Cinquecento...

Up at street level, someone was making a film...

All over Germany, you can find these little remembrances of the atrocities of the Nazi regime, built into the fabric of the cities and towns......

More views as the sun was starting to go down...

Back into the Zwinger...

This is just a few hundred metres away...

Best kebabs in the world for tea...

...before a further walk about...

Angela Merkel was speaking at the Frauenkirche - right-wing nutters were protesting...

Back to the car...

...via the ramparts at the Zwinger...

Back home, to the beergarden for late night drinks..

My jeans are getting a bit the worse for wear...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : Schloss Moritzburg...
