Up early as usual and recordings of the neighbourhood made for use at some point...

Out, saying goodbye to said neighbourhood...

...and to secure some breakfast provisions...

..at the local Aldi...

Home for said breakfast...

A tidy up...

...and onto the road for a reasonably (OK entirely) uneventful drive through the countryside to our next "home" on the outskirts of Dresden...

We had arrived a little too early so, having established the location, we drove into Dresden centre and found a suitable place to park the car - which would be our modus for the next few days - eschewing public transport and, for me, daytime partaking of the Bier...

What a beautiful city this is...

The centre is crammed with breathtaking architecture - the majority of it, of course, having been completely recreated post WWII and the city's almost utter destruction in the fire bombing of 1945...

There is the odd piece of newer stuff too of course...

...but, mainly, this...

Lunchtime and a nice wee sandwich place stumbled upon behind the rebuilt Frauenkirche...

...as touristy opportunities which would not be taken, trundled past...

More walking about in the hot sun ensued...

To the river...

This is a monument to the artist Caspar David Friedrich (CDF) ...

The quote is:-

"The painter should not only know what he sees in front of him, but also what he sees in himself. If he does not see anything in himself, then he fails to paint what he sees in front of him"

Back to the centre...

...where further building work is a-happening...

I do like a track heading int the distance...

An arty courtyard gave some respite from the baking sun...

...before we continued...

As we headed back to the car, we stopped in at the Zwinger...

Back to base - the view from the window in this quiet suburb...

In the evening, we stayed out in the sticks and enjoyed an excellent evening meal...

...and a wee treat...

an egg was involved...

Tasty in the extreme...

End of a good day...

Highlight of the Day : The wonder of Dresden...
