Breakfast out in the sun once again...

Packed up ready to leave post a nice chat with the mum of our two night landlord...

Then, into the car and off...

...for the 1hr 43 min trip to Leipzig...

On arrival, the car was parked outside our apartment for our duration here...

Lovely wee flat...

Unpacked and...

...out..

A bus and a tram took us to the city centre...

...where we commenced obtaining our bearings, staring at the Marktplatz...

...and enjoyed a tasty East German street vendor proffered sausage for lunch...

Living...

We soon found the 12th century Nikolaikirche...

...and the various impressive buildings around the Nikolaikirchof...

Inside, a rehearsal for a concert tonight was taking place - we were in the middle of a Bachfest...

Further walking around ensued...

Then, it was time for kaffee und Kuchen...

...at Kaffeehaus Riquet...

Very nice indeed...

More walking - up towards the Bahnhof...

...noting a branch of CD emporium Saturn was nestling inside...

Duly visited and purchases made...

(it turned out I already have this - not to worry)...

From the station...

...we decide to jump on a No 1 tram just to see where it might take us...

As we trundled along, we realised it passed the foot of the street next to our apartment and our new method of travel in and out of the city was accidentally discovered...

Endstation was near a large lake...

...which was within easy walking distance of the terminus...

We enjoyed a wee seat and just took in the Leipzigian action as the locals enjoyed the heat and the cooling water...

We took the tram home - utilising our daily tickets...

Later on, back into town and an outdoor curry enjoyed...

...on a beautiful sunny evening...

...before walking to the Marktplatz for some well attended Bach-related jazz...

20.30 BachStage / Markt

..from the Uri Caine ensemble - by whom I have a few discs in my collection...

As the sun went down, we walked back up to the main tram intersection at Goerdelerring...

...and called it a day...

Home for some reading and listening before retiring...

A good first day in the Zig of Leip...

Highlight of the Day : Down at the Beach...
