Up around 6 and out onto the already sunny streets at 6:45...

This morning, my plan was to walk into Edinburgh whilst enjoying Yes' 1973 double album, "Tales from Topographic Oceans" in its entirety...

...in the hope too of providing some different pictures of my usual route...

...down the hill...

...past the zoo

..and the top of Anne's mum's road...

Ok so these are the usual sights...

Here's a slightly different one of the corner of the Chinese Consulate at Murrayfield...

OK the usual one of the strange gardened house...

The river round the corner from Helen the Chiropodist's place...

Ha! A wee cat in the garden of a rather large house owned by a man I know...

I'd never seen this wee beastie before...

On past the recently painted white building...

...to the mess that is Haymarket under the auspices of the tramworks...

On past the cathedral - no zooming in today...

The other side was catching the morning light nicely...

..and heading towards Charlotte Square - around 75 minutes in...

...a busy day ahead...

Into Rose St, home of Fopp - way up the far end from here though and not my target...

Past the Castle...

..and the statues of Princes St Gardens...

After visiting my target shop in search of, would you believe, a new belt, I left with that item and indeed a snazzy new jacket and crossed over the new look ready (kind of) for the tram, Princes St...

Into the gardens, where the famous Floral Clock has just been replanted for the summer...

Along past the National Gallery...

..and up to the High Street...

..where the tourists were out early...

Past the main library - I'd never noticed the inscription above the door before...

Whilst waiting for the library to open at ten and a meet with Dr Prog at 10:30, I wandered around the area...

...past Greyfriars Churchyard...

...again trying to get a different take on matters...

...and the modern extension of the National Museum in Chamber Street...

Outside Greyfriars, this enterprising crow was attempting to extricate a small piece of food from a plastic bag...

...while the buildings over the road shone in the sun...

At 10, into the library and some reading whilst I waited on an, as usual, tardy Dr Prog...

Four Stockhausen discs borrowed, followed by a late breakfast at a nearby cafe and much chat on things progtastic...

Around 12:30, I made my way through the Meadows, after a quick nip into the Shelter shop which resulted in the purchase of last year's impressive Sweet Billy Pilgrim album for just two and one quarter of your English pounds...

By the time Anne picked me up on the other side of the Meadows, I'd already walked around seven miles since leaving the house - a good day...

A drive to Dunbar listening to the radio - football comedy show, "Off the Ball"...

Some bread and cakes bought for later from the Bakery...

I noted it had around 34 more owners than the last time we were there...

We made arrangements to obtain a replacement Meg the Black Cat lookalike clock and then popped into a cafe for lunch - this the view beyond the window...

Less sunny here...

We stopped by my mum's on the way home - her house was sweltering as she can't open any windows on her own...

I reminded her she is able to open doors though...

Back home and bread and pate in the back garden in the sun...

Then, some extremely wayward eyebrow hairs were executively produced off my face and onto the booklet of the Sweet Billy Pilgrim album...

Tense moments later as I'd forgotten to buy a lottery ticket...

Tense because we always use the same numbers and so are locked onto doing it since the numbers are burned on our brains should we ever be watching having not bought a ticket and they were to come up...

If you see what I mean...

One number...

A "Montalbano" entertained...

The rest of the evening was spent mostly ripping the recent acquisitions whilst listening to my very own second night of the Proms, featuring some of the content of the first of the two boxes of 20th Century Classical music which arrived yesterday...

A packed day...

Highlight of the Day : Walking...
