Up just before seven and time to revamp the proposed extra disc for the upcoming album...

Seven instrumental pieces followed by nine songs – all mainly the initial versions (including, in some cases, completely different lyrics) of what ended up on the final disc – plus the Killers cover I recorded for sister Pam but which she never got to hear...

Might see the light of day...

We’ll see...

No release date decided upon other than “summer”...

Listened to the mock up in the car as I drove to Patisserie Florentin for croissants for breakfast - plus some lovely flowers for our visit to mum’s old chum Pat in Paisley this afternoon...

Back home, decided to venture to London next month for one night to see the only UK show of “UK”, featuring John Wetton and Eddie Jobson...

Indeed I’ve gone the whole hog and bought VIP tickets with access to the soundcheck and meet and greet...

What a fanboy...

I’ve wanted to see this band since foregoing the chance during their debut tour back in 1978...

An all night party at the manse for old chum Rory Macrae heading to a kibbutz in Isreal for the summer was enjoyed instead, with sister Pam and her chum Janice receiving the tickets for the prog rock extravaganza...

I’m taking the train and staying one night in a fleapit at Kings Cross...

The gig itself is at Stamford Bridge – or rather under Stamford Bridge...

At 11:30, mum arrived and off we went to Paisley with the usual “aren’t you in the wrong lane son?” comments from the passenger seat – I could see Anne laughing in the rear view mirror...

This will probably be our last visit to Pat’s house as she’s moving in the summer to a flat overlooking the Abbey in the town centre...

Post a tasty lunch, Anne and I left the ladies to it and drove to Byres Road...

Anne took the Clockwork Orange into the town centre for some shopping while I took a bag of Pat’s old cassettes to the Oxfam shop before trailing around the various music related shops in the area...

In Ruthven Lane...

...I encountered this wee vocal cat – I’m sure I’ve seen him here before (yes I have)...

To Play it Again, with its own wee cat...

...and I took a chance on a Velvets disc being the second disc of a set, of which I purchased the first disc at this very emporium at some point in the past (back home later this evening, I realised I now have two copies of the same disc – two disc ones and no disc two)...

I headed up to Fopp...

Owya – they have revamped the shop and it now looks more like Blockbuster – absolutely choca with DVDs – CDs relegated to a small area of the shop...

Very disappointing...

Still, managed to pick up three second hand discs – a 2004 album from Melissa Ferrick, on which she plays all the instruments, a 2CD version of Girls Aloud’s greatest hits (I already have the 1CD version) and a collection of Wayne Shorter’s EMI recordings (I have five of the nine tracks already)...

Walked along to Kelvinbridge...

...to The Lost Chord – only to find it shut...

Met up with Anne again and we enjoyed a coffee a the Tinderbox – a caramel frappacino for your correspondent...

...before driving back to Paisley for tea and sandwiches with the ladies, before driving home...

We were nearly killed on the M8 going through the centre of Glasgow – just as well I had my wits about me as an idiot who realised at the last moment he was on a slip road, swerved back onto the main carriageway and would have hit us had I not in turn first swerved to avoid him and then swerved back in to avoid the car racing up behind us...

The remainder of the trip was uneventful and we arrived back at Crispycat Towers in one piece...

Mum headed home in the pensioner-mobile and I finished off the day listening to the acquisitions and writing this up...

A good day...

Highlight of the Day : Not being killed in a high speed road accident...
