Mastering for the masses...

Playlist
Dream Theater – 60 Minute Playlist
Emerson Lake & Palmer – 60 Minute Playlist
King Crimson – 60 Minute Playlist
Lee Morgan – Delightfulee Morgan
Stanley Turrentine – The Spoiler

Started the day with the widdly-diddly complex sounds of prog-metal experts, Dream Theater while my journey home was soundtracked by Messrs Emerson, Lake and Palmer…

As I listened to this, and the expert instrumental prowess of the trio, it struck me that the music industry doesn’t place much kudos these days on actually being able to play an instrument well…

In the 70’s, the main music papers, Sounds, NME and Melody Maker, would have annual polls for best vocalist, guitarist, bassist, keyboard player and drummer…

Now you’re more likely to see polls for best hairstyle or best jacket…

To the gym this evening for a quick three mile run to King Crimson pre “Glee” at 9 – followed by “The Cleveland Show” which produced only a couple of giggles only and so will not be followed…

Ended the day with Lee Morgan and Stanley Turrentine on the cans – tasty jazz…

I doubt we’ll ever return to the days when mastering your chosen instrument will matter to the masses…

Highlight of the Day : Widdly-diddly music…
