Paris and Vienna...

Playlist
Weather Report - Forecast Tomorrow
Santana – Welcome
Ferry Corsten – Right of Way
City and Colour – Bring Me Your Love
Haydn – The Paris Symphonies Nos 82-87

Awoke with, aptly, the sounds of Weather Report on the cans...

Festivities over...

Dreadfully cold today and, it seems, worse is on its way...

Three LPs soundtracked the day, Santana on the journey into town, Ferry Corsten at lunchtime and City and Colour on the way home...

FOPP beckoned at lunchtime but nothing was partaken of...

However, on the way home, a stop off at HMV resulted in my first purchase of 2010 – a three disc set of Haydn’s Paris Symphonies...

He never actually visited Paris of course...

This set, by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the “authentic instruments” orchestra, Concentus Musicus Wien, seems to split critics but I found it to be most beautiful and exhilarating as I listened to it this evening...

And of course, reduced as it was from £31 to a mere £5 in HMV’s sale (£25 on Amazon), I could not resist...

The set was recorded in Vienna, which we will visit later this year...

Highlight of the Day: Mr Haydn’s delights...
