Various - Sid Smith's Podcast from the Yellow Room Vol X

Today was split in three...

In the morning I forewent the chance to go uptown and, instead, continued with the project of getting a full list of my CDs onto the PC...

I listened to Sid Smith's latest Podcast (link above) which was based around tracks from albums he has which were amongst those voted on the BBC to be best of the year...

Were I to undertake a similar task, it would be a fairly short podcast, given that only Pet Shop Boys and David Sylvian made on to both my own and the BBC's listings...

Just after lunchtime, we headed to Tynecastle, for today, the Exec Producer was a guest of the Directors of the club, by the good fortune of having had her name drawn out of a hat at the Hearts Supporters' Trust...

So, I dropped her off, quickly made my way towards Haymarket and bought some blank CDs and plastic sleeves to keep the stock of CBQ CDs up, then drove to Anne's mum's - as I was to accompany her to the game in Anne's stead...

Nephew Ollie was attending too, along with brother-in-law Keith (keep up) as nephew Craig was writing the match report for the Hearts website and so, like Anne, was not going to be utilising his season ticket...

Three generations of Jam Tarts, blurrily recorded by a Doonhamer...

Here's Anne in the Directors' Box - back row of the box, third from the right - red coat...

And so, I watched Hearts beat St Mirren (my home town team) 1-0 (a penalty for handball) in a fairly uninspiring game - although Anne reported later that Hearts were a lot better today than they have been recently...

Hmmm...

Post the game. sister-in-law Jane picked up Ollie and I took Anne's mum home before circling back to Tynecastle to pick Anne up and take her home...

She certainly enjoyed her day hob-nobbing with the big knobs...

Part three of the day was a trip into town to meet chum Chris-with-a-ch at the Doric for drinks...

Around 8:30, we walked over Waverley Bridge and enjoyed more drinks at the Abbotsford in Rose St, next to FOPP (sadly, closed by this time)...

Then, to the Hard Rock Cafe - a "45 minute wait" swiftly reduced to just 10 minutes on production of a loyalty card...

A slap up feed of, probably too large, burgers was enjoyed (along with yet more drinks) before we wended our way to Waterloo Place, taking several timed release shots on the way of the drunken trio...

We were off to meet up with Chris' sister, who was attending a 40th birthday party at the new Apex Hotel...

It was rather disconcerting being in a room full of people ten years younger than me who all looked and behaved 10 years older than me (in my head anyway)...

Chris was convinced he had a chance of romance with this friend of his sister, seen here doing a bad impersonation of Bryan Ferry...

..and indeed with many of the other ladies present, till I pointed out they were all here with their husbands, fiances or boyfriends...

So we retreated to the bar for some consolatory red wine...

Finally, having quaffed this, as Chris and his sister took a taxi to her house "for more alchohol", Anne and I headed back to Waverley Bridge for an airport bus to the bottom of Crispycat Hill...

After a ten minute walk up the hill, I retrieved the CDs and sleeves from the boot of the Cloudland Blue Mobile and, around 1 am, I was to be found stroking them lovingly, while Meg the Black Cat enjoyed having someone to sit on after being on her own most of the day...

The demon drink...

Highlight of the Day : Has to be the burger, although I think they may well have been the cause of a visitation of the Trumpets of Satan in the middle of the night...
