Rubbishy start to the day today because, even though I knew it was a Saturday and ought to be fun, it felt like a Sunday (for the second day running)...

Spent the early morning booking a trip to Slovakia in late Spring – something to look forward to...

Anne attempted to clear the path to the back gate – my ongoing recovery from a shoulder op back in June precludes me from using a spade like this...

Out for our first breakfast of the year at Patisserie Florentin, simple coffees and croissants for us both, before a saunter down into Stockbridge where the majority of the shops were closed...

The Oxfam shop was open though and I took a look at their CDs but did not make a purchase – I always feel the first CD of the year ought to be one I really want (although, of course, it seldom works out that way)...

Back home I worked on transferring the Best of the Year CDs I compile each year for Anne to MP3s and burning them to discs for the car...

Sister Pam called to say mum was ill and wouldn’t be able to come along as planned to brother-in-law Keith’s today for a New Year get together...

As a result, we drove out to Loanhead in the skiddy conditions – the big freeze continues...

We picked Pam up and she said her goodbyes to mum...

...and off we went, arriving at Keith’s around 4:30 or so...

In attendance were four naughty children...

Keith...

The Exec Producer and Keith’s lovely wife, Maureen...

Sister Pam...

Mother-in-law Mary...

Maureen’s brother Dave...

And lovely wife Alison...

Sister in law Jane (Bobby was at a rugby match)...

Maureen’s daughter Abby and various unpictured teenage chums...

Later we were joined by elder daughter Rebecca and boyfriend Murray...

An excellent buffet was laid on and much (possibly too much) wine and other beverages were consumed – not by your correspondent though – driving duties curtailing any intake...

We left around 10, an early evening snowfall having rendered the roads rather treacherous...

...but we made it home – sister Pam overnighting with us as she flies back to England tomorrow, weather permitting...

Anne kind of ended the day as she’d begun it...

Highlight of the Day : Party at Maureen and Keith’s...
