This evening was the send off for colleague Kimbo who’s off to train to be a primary teacher – not a career choice I’d make myself but, you know what they say, follow the dream and all that...

Unfortunately, a good few of our fellow slaves to The Man were in “just the one and I’m off home” mode and, as I was first at the bar, I ended up forking out around £30 for a round, for which I received very little value for money...

By the time we’d had around four drinks, the six remaining participants moved from “The Living Room” to “The Candy Bar” but while we managed to get a bit of a bargain on the old 2 for 1 scenario, the white wine on offer was, frankly, bogging, and did nothing re my impending headache tomorrow morning, mixed as it was to previous pints of lager...

Things started to go a little awry as we “progressed” to “The Ivory Lounge” where we were joined late on by another colleague who'd been out on a golf day with two chums, who also joined the group...

Then some of Kim's friends turned up too and it looked as though things might turn out ok...

But it wasn't to be...

Our new colleague felt compelled to leave with his chums for a more condusive atmosphere (i.e. they stotted off into the night)...

Meanwhile, we’d ordered (rather too late in the day) quite a few plates of food, which were quickly devoured before everyone finally called it a night and left me and the Executive Producer and one other to cover the £40 bill...

This coupled with my losses earlier in the week at the races and the earlier bar bill has made it a particularly expensive few days with, let’s face it, nothing to show for it...



To put the icing on the cake, we then had to deal with one young lady from our party falling over in the street etc, eventually getting in touch with a couple of her friends who came along to take custody of her while Anne and I took a cab home...

Ah the demon alcohol...
