Awoke to the news that one of my favourites, Black Moses himself, Mr Isaac Hayes died yesterday at the age of just 65...
You may know him as Chef from South Park, you probably know his song “Shaft”, you might even know he co-wrote at least two all time classic soul numbers, “Hold On, I’m Comin’” and “Soul Man”...
He was without doubt a very important figure in the history of popular music and I’m sad that he’s gone – but his music lives on and I listened to quite a bit of it today in celebration of his life and work...
Other than that, had a bit of a dispute with the bank today re my own money which they didn’t want to seem to give me but they did eventually and I swapped it, or rather, sold it, for cash from another nation which will soon be the subject of a visit from Mr CBQ and the executive Producer...
Back home, watched the second in the new Richard Dawkins series – best scene was RD trying to explain how humans evolved from the same ancestor as from whom chimps also evolved, to an East African Bishop...
He also explained his theory of the Selfish gene and how it might be that traits such as altruism, which seem to go against the “laws” of evolution, have survived in humans and other animals – fascinating stuff indeed...
Later a new series of alternative “Spooks” set in the future – the first two episodes were ok and I will continue watching – even if the main characters are implausibly young...
Highlight of the Day : The music of Isaac Hayes
