Off to Airdrie tonight to see Queen of the South - the Executive Producer in the driving seat due to my injured hand...
And then - Aargh!!
First game in European competition since a famous tour of France and North Africa in the nineteen thirties and what happens?
A dodgy corner decision on a waterlogged pitch and a goal lost inside two minutes...
It was uphill all the way from there but the mighty Queen of the South fought their way back to a glorious equaliser, as Sean O’Connor rose above the Danish defence like the proverbial flying salmon and nutted the ball into the back of the net...
Only for Queens to lose another stupid goal four minutes later...
Half time 2-1 down...
The second half was contested mainly in Nordsjaelland’s half but to no avail and, to be honest, I got the feeling they never really opened up to their full capacity...
Rather annoyingly, back home there wasn’t even a mention of this game on STV’s so-called News and Sport Bulletin – not even the scoreline – just stories about Celtic and Rangers, neither of whom played tonight, the latter already out of Europe before Queens’ campaign had even started...
Still, that’s the fate of all clubs in Scotland other than the Old Firm and that’s just one of the (many) reasons why non-Old Firm fans hate Rangers and Celtic the way Scotland fans hate England...
Unbiased report here and a slightly more detailed one here...
Slightly gutted...
