Another beautiful day, with much of the soundtrack prepping for this week's podcast and tomorrow night's Roger Waters gig...

The beast was...

...about its business...

In the evening, a solo visit to the hospital, mum much improved...

...but, it must be said, still very much off her face on drugs...

The views from the office this evening - she is on the same ward which housed me post op in late 2015...

...and so, today's artwork is "A Now Familiar Corridor"...

First thing, a visit from a wee friend...

...who, shortly after this, bit and scratched the hand that fed him...

But, hey, that's cats...

This evening, to the hospital with a bitten and scratched Anne to visit my mum...

She looked as if she was dead...

She was, in fact, fast asleep but very yellow indeed...

The slumber was caused by the massive sedation which had been required to carry out a procedure this afternoon, during which it was realised that the stones in her bile duct were too large to "fish out" as had been envisaged...

Instead, stents were placed around the stones to stop the blockage which has caused this illness...

A further procedure will be required at a later date...

Leaving her to sleep, we made our way home...

And probably watched some football...

Today's artwork, "Looking Out the Window"...

Highlight of the Day : Mum still being alive, despite appearances...

Chum Marta will shortly be away for a year re an imminent baby scenario...

She provided very yummy cupcakes...

At lunchtime, a chance meeting with Craig Sutherland of Creek, and a longtime CBQ collaborator...

We have an agreement, following our meeting, that he will take my vocal tracks and create new works around them...

Now I just need to find the time to record said vocal tracks...

In the evening, deciding on the running order for this week's podcast...

Today's artwork, "The Icing on the Cake"...

Nothing much to report today, other than...

A hall in Roslin has been booked for Sunday 22 July for Capital Models - it will, however, be a closed session...

And the new printer arrived for puicking up and was indeed picked up, post a visit to my mum, who continues to be "not too bad all things considered" and expects a procedure any day now...

Adios old printer, you served us well, probably the longest service we've had from your kind...

We went for a new Epson...

Setting up did take an age though...

Today's artwork, "The New Machine"...

The heatwave has started in Scotchland - apparently the weather wasn't that great here last week while we were away...

Anne took the opportunity to potter in the garden - neighbour Pietro was doing the same...

In the afternoon, to drummer/bassist Keith's, where he showed me his amplification supplies...

Out to drummer Johnny's in Roslin for this week's rehearsals, which went well, before a well earned rest in the back garden, where amplification was the main topic of conversation...

...with Chloe providing the entertainment...

Today's artwork, "The Drummers Amplification"...

As ever the recording sounded better than expected, this the cover...

In the evening, some amplification research and an e-mail to the soundman for the gig in September and the suggestion we book a hall before hand to try things out...

Hihglight of the Day : Rehearsing...

Up not too early after yesterday's long day and finished off the ripping of the new CDs...

Did not get round to recording or uploading this week's podcast though - in fact didn't decide on a track list till later in the day, all comprising the German purchases plus a 3CD set of weird noise type stuff which arrived around lunchtime...

In the afternoon, to the hospital - a text received from Sister Sheila yesterday at Baden Baden railway station advised my mum was being admitted yet again...

Mum was looking a bit yellow - but there's no news on what might be wrong - an abdominal scan is promised for tomorrow - we'll see...

Back home, for a salad and Germany v Sweden...

Tony Kroos' goal in the 95th minute was amazing...

The English commentators forced to eat their words...

That was followed by the third and second last episodes of "The Bridge IIII" - top notch stuff...

The day was finished off with the recording of the links for the podcast - around 75 mins of the 120 taken up with new classical purchases...

To bed with that in the cans - will put it all together first thing tomorrow...

Today's artwork, "Back to the Infirmary"...

Highlight of the Day : It still only being Saturday...

Another last day...

Ravel - Ravel: Arrangements for Wind Quintet
Various Composers - The Romantic Age

Last day...

No breakfast on the balcony today, instead, packed and bags left while we went down the hill to the town for breakfast....

...followed by a walk...

 ...along the Lichtentaler Allee...

...to the Cistercien Monastery at Lichtenthal...

...and the Lutherkirche...

...and back again, spotting this wee chum...

...and having a seat in the Rose Garden along the way...

Behind the church which has been pictured so many times over the past week, the Nazis burned books on 17 June 1933...

...here...

As Heinrich Heine advised "where you burn books, you will eventually burn people"...

Up the stairs to the apartment for the last time, spotting only our second cat of the trip...

Out, now with case in tow, hoping to visit the Roman baths before we departed but they were shut...

Instead, coffees...

...and taking in the views...

Then, a further seat in the roasting heat, while waiting for the bus to the railway station...

Past the scene of the excellent ballet...

...for a further bus to the airport...

...and much sitting about...

Finally boarding...

Auf wiedersehen, Baden Baden...

Over the North Sea...

...to Scotchland once more...

Out over the Forth...

Cramond Island...

Hopetoun House...

..and down...

Security, baggage pick up, airport bus, walk up the hill and home to rip CDs, treat pics, catch up on TV missed and, eventually, write this up...

An excellent trip, all told...

Today's artwork, "Mmmm, Lovely Coffee"...

Highlight of the Day : Actually, probably the coffee at the Baden Baden coffee house...
