I mentioned I was thinking of going to Kirkcaldy today for Queen of the South's six pointer against Raith Rovers...
It turns out Penny's Great Grandad was a Director of Raith and she and Alan had also been considering going...
So all four of us decided to venture to the Kingdom of Fife...
Home first for a quick turnaround...
....agreeing to meet near the ground around 2:30...
We paid our £17 each and took our seats for our first QoS game of the season...
Sadly, Raith were the better team, scoring in 15 minutes and again early in the second half - before we'd even finished our half time pies...
But Queens came back into it and got a fine goal before the Rovers' goalie pulled off a wonder save to deny an equaliser...
Our own keeper was playing a blinder (apart from letting two in) saving countless certain goals...
At the very death, he even went up front for a corner - here he is starting his run back after it came to nothing...
With the last kick of the ball, Raith made it three after a breakaway...
Elsewhere, Ayr Utd came from behind twice to beat Dundee 3-2 in Dundee so it was a formality in any case...
And so, for the first time in 23 years, Queens are relegated and will play in the 2nd Division next season...
I hope they won't be there for 13 years like the last time...
Drove home in the sun and enjoyed a Genesis bootleg Mr B gave me, which led me, in turn, to download their Knebworth Festival gig from 1978, which I attended...
...along with a rare single by UK, whom I will see in London in just under four week's time...
Two episodes of "The Bridge" provided for some excellent entertainment in the evening...
Four years ago we celebrated as Queens headed to Hampden for the Scottish Cup Final against Glasgow (Cheating) Rangers - next year they may play there again, if
Queens Park (check out their illustrious and, in world footballing terms, influential history at the link) get through the play offs for promotion from Division Three...
If "The Spiders" fail in that task, they will probably be playing Glasgow Rangers next seaon in Scotland's lowest top flight league - the first time the two will have been in the same league since 1958...
So, mon the Queens - both of them...
