Furniture music...

Playlist
Cloudland Blue Quartet - New Pieces
Gubaidulina - Solo Piano Works
Mozart - Piano Sonatas (Glen Gould)

Up at six and to the dining room with the laptop to update this and, from seven, keep a look out for the delivery of our new furniture...

Still feeling a little bad about our old settees out in the back garden...

At 8:30, with Anne up and no sign of "stuff", off to the podiatrist and to bring home breakfast provisions...

By 10, I was working on more new pieces, today, two relatively short scenarios...

Meg continued to enjoy the temporary set up...

..while I was at the computer tweaking pieces...which is kind of what takes the time...

Meg was waiting...

Arrival...

Usually Meg would run a way from a delivery but not today for some reason...

Her interest was piqued...

A short unpack and feet attaching scenario and we were good to go...

...trying out various set ups...

..and plumping for this...

Meg seemed happy too...

Now to get used to matters...

Anne left for the footie (Hearts and Queens both beaten again) as the music work continued, with Meg enjoying the new seats...

A break for some Mozart...

...while Meg assumed a now common position on the edge of the sink...

Who knows how that mind works...

Coffee and reading...

..while missing a good day outside...

In the evening, a Chinese and some Saturday night TV and more work, as the arrangement was changed again and Anne tried to get comfy but didn't seem convinced...

...while I ended with a playback of the day's work...

Lights out...

Hunter's Wellington Boots...

Surely one of the ultimate examples of a world gone mad for labels - these are essentially brightly coloured versions of the standard wellie - but with the word "Hunter" on a label on the front...

For the privilege of that one small word strategically placed in a little rectangle on the front of each boot (which must be worn outside any trousers for the label to be visible), people are willing to pay four or five times the price of a standard pair of wellies...

...and will queue up and go even more mad for them when a "sale" is announced and they can be had for a slightly smaller multiple of "normal wellie price"...

People are idiots...

Mind you I do like my new watch - which has the same time on it as my laptop and my mobile phone....

Idiot...

At home, change was a foot - but not before an excellent pie from the Exec Producer...

Yum...

Today was sunset time...

...for our two trusty Chesterfields, which have graced the living room for over 25 years - Anne didn't really want to say goodbye...

..and I am an awful one for anthropomorphising stuff...

Like a seat I've enjoyed for a quarter of a century....

But the new suite will arrive tomorrow - a two seater settee and two chairs (we have actually only seen one of the chairs) - so I will no longer be liable to lounge in the lounge...

To the back garden for my trusty old, kind of worn-out friend...

Anne's three seater was rather more problematic...

A crowbar was used to remove its feet - while I noted the back of the settee looked as good as new...

A bit of a paint job now needed in the tightly squeezed through porch...

And then it was done...

...and the room awaits...

...a new set up...

The adding artwork project continued into the night...

The fit of the new...

Playlist
Various - iPod on Shuffleplay

With the iPod now reloaded I soundtracked the day with shuffleplay and also created small playlists of songs beginning with A, B and C...

You can see where that's going...

Yep, giving up around J if I'm lucky...

A busy day, taken up mostly with meetings here and there around the town, including a chance hook up with old chum Ken Donald out near the airport in the afternoon and an enjoyable dinner at Tigerlily - from which my lifelong ban was lifted some time ago now...

Tasty...

Problems today with my mobile phone led me to plan to buy a new one - in hindsight though it was just a problem on the network, nothing to do with my handset...

The new shower finally arrived after much to-ing and fro-ing of e-mails...

We are coping with the goosed one - it still works - it just leaks perpetually - but the fit of the new can't happen till Sunday...

In the evening, telly plus manually adding album artwork to iTunes...

This is how I waste my time...

Considering the future...

Playlist
Cloudland Blue Quartet - New Pieces
Alice Cooper - Singles Real & Imaginary
DJ Hell - Teufelswerk
Levin Torn White - Levin Torn White
The Physics House Band - Horizons Rapture
Craig Armstrong - Piano Works

It's just coming up for 7:30 am three days from now and I've been up for an hour and a half and am sitting at the dining table with the laptop, enjoying a coffee and waiting for our new suite to be delivered...

And I'm trying to remember what I did three days ago...

It had been a rather overcast day, which I don't mind...

...I'm not a huge fan of the sun - I think my least favourite weather element though has to be the wind - it plays havoc with my hair...

Anyway - what did I do?

The usual - nothing much...

Walked to Fopp - nothing bought - nothing really considered if I'm honest...

I don't mind not buying CDs - I have far too many already...

I listened to my new pieces for the next album, for which I have a quite hubristic and outrageous concept going on in my head right now...

More creation and recording is in the offing re that...

In the evening, much of my time was spent wiping the iPod (apart from my new stuff) and adding back albums from iTunes, on the basis of a maximum of one per artist...

That was about it...

On to tomorrow...

Today mostly spent with my mum...

She is to have operations on her eyes...

To the Eye Pavillion...

...where much sitting about, waiting, took place...

When in action however, the nurse and the registrar were both very nice and efficient...

The ops will go ahead, possibly as much as three months apart - and will allow mum to continue driving...

With her dreadful legs and back situations, she really relies on the car re getting anywhere at all...

Some views...

We did not use the stairs to or from the fourth floor...

After all this, given the size of her pupils, I drove her home...

We met up with the Exec Producer and enjoyed a very nice evening meal at The Steading, close to mum's house..

Back home, the first CD of October had arrived, following the hiatus in the second half of September...

The sixth volume of German contemporary classical music from the Deutscher Musikrat...

The rest of the evening was spent listening to this and its predecessors, manually adding missing album artwork to iTunes and watching "New Tricks" (last in the series) and "Bad Education"...

Lights out...
