This morning, Anne was out at Zumba...

I worked on a new piece, based loosely around a 1:37 video posted to the family WhatsApp by niece-in-law Tori, of Grad Nephew Lockie mucking about on the piano...

Initially, an ambient piece...

Then, beats added...

The, those removed and bas and drums from me and Sparky's Milwaukee Rd added...

Then, lyrics written about accidental fugitives being killed in a showdown in a Texas Motel (where do these ideas come from?)...

By lunchtime, the makings of the first song of 2025...

Said lunch - ham and coleslaw...

...with "Father Brown"...

By tea time, done, kind of...

"Dreary" was the Exec Producer's opinion - and "I can't really hear Lockie's piano"...

Hmmm....

In contrast, Anne's cooking could not be faulted...

Brechin City v Hearts was on the telly - the home side going ahead with an absolute raker of a shot from the No 15 sub - worthy of Brazil...

But Hearts came back to win 3-1 in the end and the Exec Producer was satisfied with that...

Also over the course of the the day, work with the solicitors re mum's house and it went on the market this afternoon...

Two viewings over the weekend booked in within a matter of minutes...

Crispycat Latest Release

As always from Crispycat Recordings, entirely Free to Stream or Name Your Price (including zero) to Download. Released on Edward Spark's birthday, "The Great Carving" is the follow up LP to 2023's "Fallentime". It sees the return of Edward Spark and CBQ in a new 19 track collaboration, featuring Mr Spark's signature electronics and hip-hop beats, along with CBQ's distinctive guitarscapes, field recordings and found short wave radio broadcasts. Conceived as one 66 minute piece, it is best listened to "gaplessly" via downloading the files. The download version contains a further 2 hours 20 minutes of bonuses, featuring the "solo" versions of the LP, from CBQ and from Edward Spark, along with a selection of CBQ remixes of Sparky's original pieces around which the main album is based, plus two further songs from the sessions which produced the closing track of the LP and recent single, "Vitriol".

In a one-man crusade to encourage the world to broaden its musical horizons, David has been broadcasting a weekly Eclectic Selection of music from across his vast record collection since 2014. On the programme each week, you'll hear 25 Tracks, kicking off with David's LP of the Week, followed by his six other LPs of the day, three or so CBQ, or CBQ related, tracks, a single of the week (if there is one), a couple more singles (if there are any) and a further eclectic mix of other things new into the collection... It's eclectic!
