Up...
,,,and thinking about food...
This time, five years ago, after almost 6 months very hard work, I was looking and feeling a lot better than I had a year before that. or, indeed, for years, possibly decades...
It had involved a massive amount of willpower - something which is entirely alien to me...
During the subsequent lockdown and over the intervening years, as my discipline has waned, so things have crept back and, while I'm nowhere near where I once was, negative-wise, I am edging ever closer, sadly...
So, it's time to make a change...
First thing was to try and get the scales to work...
A new battery...
...but, no, they are goosed...
We can get a new set...
I will continue anyway and am determined that it should be without this thing (not the coffee), something of which I have been partaking of far too frequently...
To work, then, at the start of the first full week of 2025...
Following the recent uploads to Bandcamp and yesterday's listens back to "Variations on Brian Eno's "Discreet Music"" and "Wrexham", this morning, I gave a listen to my "Variations on Brian Eno's "On Land"", recorded last June, and was once again reminded of the lack of definition which has been bugging me at every listen-back session of this LP...
Out of the blue, I had an idea to amend my modus operandi, while keeping the goal the same...
I carried it out and, lo, it worked and I'm very happy with the outcome. So much so, that this LP now too, is uploaded and is ready to go, bar the liner notes and credits...
Then, turned my attention to the Fripp project and discovered I can just leave the recorder running - the longest track it can create is around 3.5 hours but it then just moves seamlessly to a new track...
And so the recorder, across the whole of today, allowed a transfer of the remainder of the first of the two BluRays of Frippertronic performances, over 13 hours, giving a total of almost 28 hours of music...
Amazing...
And I'm only half way through - tomorrow, BluRay 2 will whirr all day...
Breakfast under the new regime was scrambled eggs and tomatoes...
Then, some "Bosch", then, back to work, compiling the first podcast of 2025 - 6 LPs of the Day, CBQ tracks from "Twentytwentyfour" and "On Land", some newly downloaded funky LPs from 50 years ago, and tracks from the newly acquired CDs plus a couple more downloads, ending with a Fripp track - all nicely reflecting my musical week...
Home made coleslaw, with ham, for lunch - a red onion, a carrot, some cabbage and dashes of low fat mayo and honey - so tasty....
In the afternoon, correspondence with the boys in the band - we will reconvene on Sunday and start work on the original canon, while playing too, a few covers to warm up/cool down...
Suggested setlist...

Under an hour's worth of music which will, no doubt, be stretched to around three by the learning process - which will include too, the first the utilisation of the new mixing desk along the way!
A call to nephew Ali to arrange an alternative to waiting on the council re uplifting the last remaining bulky items from mum's house...
Success...
That will happen now tomorrow, then we can get the marketing of the house moving at last...
At 4:30, Anne was off to pilates...
On her return, some very tasty and reasonably healthy pasta...
...was followed by one last hurrah of some Doritos and hot salsa....
...but all bread, crisps (other than this few) and sweets have now been eschewed...
The Fripp disc concluded, was transferred and converted for day to day listening, from WAV to MP3...
"Bosch" season 6 was also concluded - superb...
Last thing...
...the new "On Land" was again enjoyed...
A good day...
Highlight of the Day : Bosch Season 6 concluded...
