And so, we remained in Berlin...

The views from the office this morning...

...as we waited for 9am to come, to call EasyJet's UK office - the German office opened at 8 but the UK was an hour behind...

At the stroke of 9, I dialed and made my way through the plethora of options, only to be cut off after 10 minutes...

And so, I did the same again and, once again, was cut off after 10 minutes...

So, next time, I chose the WhatsApp version and suddenly, I wasn't on WhatsApp with them but "Vanessa from EasyJet" was on the line...

I gave her the whole story and she advised we should just make a claim via the website for all expenses (apart from alcohol) for our extra time here, before we could be flown home and promised us too, that she had cancelled the flight on Thursday and the funds would be returned to our card in a week or so...

So, with that weight off our shoulders (well, until our money doesn't come back that is!), we set out for another day in Berlin....

It took just over an hour for us to get into the city from the airport...

We were, of course, still able to use our trusty 49 Euro tickets, so no need to claim back anything for transport...

Almost there...

Breakfast at Friedrichstrasse...

...was followed by a walk, as we tried to find the "arty" district...

Auguststrasse, for future reference, was the street we were searching for - and we found it...

A look around KW (Kunst Werk)...

...and the environs...

...and a long walk and we found ourselves in a park...

We did not recognise it...

It was only after we walked to the other side and a tram stop, that we realised this was the same park we'd been in a few nights ago, off Kastanienallee, the Volkspark am Weinberg...

A tram to Friedrichstrasse...

 ....and Dussmann...

This was outside the facilities utilised...

A couple of records in the window were recorded for a future (fruitless) search...

Back to the nearby University for lunch...

More coconut water...

Then, we decided we'd visit Charlottenburg Palace...

On to the S-Bahn...

...and a few changes...

...finally saw us at the end of the very wide, picturesque street which leads to the palace - you can just see it in the distance...

A long walk in the hot sun ensued and we were getting closer...

Nearly there...

After 10 minutes walk, we arrived...

Round the back we went, into the gardens...

In the cool shade of the trees, we found a children's art class, run by a very nice man over the summer - only one wee girl was painting - of course picturing that scene was not allowed...

So here's some class equipment...

On we walked...

...until views were afforded...

...and further away, there were further views...

And back we went...

...and, after 90 minutes and almost at the end of the street where we'd started the trek, we found Kastanie, a wee place we've sat at before...

Nose update...

Drinks...

...and then, back on the train...

...alighting at Bahnhof Zoo...

...and out for a look around the Gendarmmarkt area with its two cathedrals and the opera house...

Much construction going on - as it was when Anne was here last year...

We walked back to Friedrichstrasse...

And, deciding we'd eat "German" this evening, took a table at Nolle, a fixture of Berlin since the 1920s...

...where the whole place seems to shake when a train goes over the roof...

The nice waitress filled us in on a lot of the background which you can read here...

Schnitzel-tastic...

Hopefully, on EasyJet...

Second beers were required - this, my fave pic of Anne of the trip...

And out into the sun...

.and a wee constitutional...

...before catching the train back to the hotel...

A faster train, that only took 17 minutes, rather than an hour, to get us "home"...

...for coffee...

A surprisingly good bonus day, once the stress had been lifted by "Vanessa"...

Highlight of the Day : Stuff seemingly sorted, allowing us to enjoy a further couple of days...
