Up early, but not too early, this machine is not linked to the internet and so the time had not changed...

Another lovely day in the offing...

..and another excellent buffet breakfast...

...in the best of surroundings, featuring, in the main, cows...

Out under the sky blue sky...

...into the centre and to Kaufingerstrasse...

..and a wee walk around as we waited on the shops opening...

Germany still has C&A and the Exec Producer found something she likes within this store...

...which was followed by a visit to Saturn...

There were a disappointing amount of empty shelves in the CD emporium-like CD department but I still managed to pick up a few tasty items...

Although all of these are by, what you might call, the usual suspects...

Back to the hotel to check out and then, a sadly underestimated very long walk indeed, pulling the case and carrying heavy bags, across the river, in search of our hire car...

We passed our apartment from 2013...

...and over the bridge...

..after a three mile walk...

...we arrived...

Sadly we did not notice some damage to one of the wheel trims, for which Europcar have charged us over 600 Euros (as at October 2020), including a 95 Euro administration charge - suffice to say, while it was a nice car, we won't be using Europcar ever again...

A couple of stop offs broke up our drive south into the Alps...

...and soon, around 3:30pm, we were back at the house at which we stayed 7 years ago...

...right next to the, it appeared, completely renovated in the intervening years, chairlift up the Jenner...

Our target for tomorrow...

Good views as we parked a little earlier than expected and so, took a first stroll through the little town of Königssee...

...stopping off at the brand new station for some coffee and cake...

...and then headed towards the lake...

I first visited this place in the summer of 1974 on a school trip...

Sadly, today, I discovered the hotel we stayed at, which was empty and derelict 7 years ago, has now been demolished and is a hole in the ground...

Onward past what was once the Bobschuppen with the "best Gulaschsuppe in the world" (back in 1982 anyway, when we were camping nearby - our only ever camping holiday - and relying on Gulaschsuppe for sustenance)...

Finally, the "best lake in the world" for a first quick look...

...before walking back up the hill to the house...

We had the same room as before...

Unpacked...

The view from the office this afternoon...

The family cat paid a visit...

Then, out again, past the goats...

...and the rock by the old hotel...

...and what was the old hotel...

Oh well...

We took the back route to the lake...

Once again passed the Bobschuppen - still no Gulaschsuppe on offer...

To the lake...

...for beers...

...and a tasty tea...

The waitress gave us the back story on the hotel and the Bobschuppen - apparently the whole area was bought by a developer who wanted to put up a big new hotel complex but political wrangling has held things up for years - and created a bit of an eyesore...

...which this is not...

A walk in the dark...

..over the bridge...

...for more views...

The end of a good day...

Back in one of our favourite places...

Highlight of the Day : Arriving in Königssee
