Up early to get the podcast finished and uploaded, then, packing and out...

...and onto the Airport bus...

The place was comparatively deserted...

...but our plane (or one like this one) awaited us ...

Some sustenance...

...and then, a bit of a slight delay, as it was announced that one the of the crew on the incoming flight had been taken ill...

Luckily, a stand by crew member was located and called into service - hopefully the stricken person did ok - we were not advised...

Eventually, we were off...

Right up the back on a packed flight - other flights had been cancelled and this one was packed full...

Such cancellations had caused this trip to be shortened from the two weeks planned back in January to 8 days...

Anne read, I listened...

...and took the obligatory pics out the window, as you do (or, at least, as I do)...

After around 100 minutes, we landed safely...

We breezed through passport control and baggage reclaim and were soon waiting on a train...

...which took us into the city...

We'd see that big wheel in the corner again next Friday...

Out at Sendlinger Tor, Munich - for the first couple of days of the trip...

Into the very nice hotel...

The views from the office this afternoon...

Out and round the corner for a late, falafel based, lunch...

In good spirits...

A leisurely walk into the centre ensued...

Through the actual Sendlinger Tor...

...and on to the Marienplatz...

So good to be back in one of our favorite cities after seven years...

Into the biergarten in the courtyard of the town hall...

...for the first biers of the trip...

...in excellent surroundings...

The building on the left here is the department store, Ludwig Beck - "Kaufhaus der Sinne"...

..."shopping store of the senses" - it was here seven years ago too but I did not realise this paradise was on the top floor...

Of course, I partook...

Some absolutely out there string quartet music...

Some also out there but not quite as far out there piano musik from Herr Krenek...

Some jazz from Munich based label ACT...

Some tasty organ playing over two discs...

And a rarity from Craig Armstrong...

Bargains all - around £175 on Amazon (checked back at the hotel later) - for which I paid just £37...

Back out into the late afternoon sun...

...looking for somewhere for another drink...

..we eventually found a nice wee biergarten down near the Isartor...

...where a good time was had...

...before we started the walk home in the twilight...

..and gathering dark...

We stopped off in another bar, on Hans Sachs Strasse, Cafe Nil...

...a very nice gay bar, where enjoyment was had...

...then, continuing along Mullerstrasse towards the hotel, we stopped off at M43 for some late night nourishment...

...before the short walk back to the hotel and calling it a night (after taking notes re the music acquisitions)...

An excellent first day...

Seven years away can be too long away...

Highlight of the Day : Back in that Munich...
