Up just after six, enjoying the two Gary Husband discs discovered and purchased recently, followed by three Cure albums which, in hindsight, have been set together as a kind of trilogy...

I have not listened to these in a long time and it was good to reacquaint myself - the album "Pornography" was a huge influence on me in the early 80''s...

Downstairs, where Meg the Black cat was snoozing...

Out with the Exec Producer to meet up with Dr Prog at the Music Library...

Through Princes St Gardens...

Overcast...

The Floral Clock...

...this year, celebrating the centenary of Edinburgh Zoo, emulating its penguin logo...

Past the National Gallery...

..and up the mound, arriving almost simultaneously with the good doctor...

Handing back four Stockhausen discs, I borrowed an Arditti Quartet disc of Nancarrow, two quartets and arrangements of some of his piano-player studies, a 3CD set of what is, to all intents and purposes, musique concrete by Luc Ferrari and last year's release by Steven Isserlis and Thomas Ades of works by the latter, Janacek, Faure and Liszt for cello and piano...

Meanwhile, Dr Prog got some things he likes...

To a nearby cafe for sustenance and chat...

Amongst the topics, my own and Anne's disdain for The Rolling Stones, despite the Doc's protestations, and the trials and tribulations of Heart of Midlothian FC and Dunfermline Athletic FC...

Farewell to the doc and we walked back to the car, via the Grassmarket - where a £2 disc of delightful, tuneful oboe quartets by Jan Krtitel (yes, that is how it's spelt) Vanhal was picked up...

This, my pic of the day - coming out of the tunnel between the Grassmarket and Lothian Road...

Back through the gardens, over the railway...

...and past the fountain...

...to the craft fair at St John's at the West End of Princes St - the weather had picked up...

Nothing partaken of, nor at the little shop where we were seeking a clock to replace the broken and returned Meg the Black Cat lookalike clock for the kitchen...

To the car...

..and home...

Where much weird music was enjoyed (post tuneful Vanhal in the car)...

One eye on the footie - Queens through to the next round of the League Cup, beating local rivals Annan 3-0, whilst, elsewhere, after extra time The Rangers fell at the first hurdle, being dumped out by Forfar Athletic, whom they will play at least another twice this season, given they will both compete in the third tier...

To put that into perspective, Queens thrashed Forfar 4-0 last time they visited...

Extremely tasty prawn and chorizo spaghetti for tea - mmm, mmm - accompanied by a superb new discovery, muesli bread...

On telly, two episodes of dark Swedish cop show "Wallander" along with a very interesting documentary by Dr David Starkey on the British monarchy and music, tracing the rise and rise of Georg Friedrich Handel...

This is music at the very forefront of tuneless modernity...

I like it...

A good day...

Highlight of the day : Anne's spaghetti - I could eat it till the cows come home...
