One birthday and a funeral...

Playlist
Sorensen - String Quartets
Lutoslawski - Chain 3
Schnittke - Concerto Grosso No 1
Various Composers - Edition Zeitgenossiche Musik 75
Various Composers - Classical Summer Acquisitions

Soundtracked by the weirdings of Sorensen early on...

Cake and a speech in the morning re chum Margaret's attainment of fifty years on the planet on Saturday coming...

By contrast, in the afternoon, the funeral of Count Brodski (54 on Saturday)'s dad...

He died on the last day of July, aged 86 and, by the stories related today, had a good life...

He was a Baptist and the service of celebration was held at his church...

It presented a stark contrast to the Richard Herring show we enjoyed last Thursday with regard to beliefs in the afterlife and the overall relevancy of the concept of "God"...

The burial at Cockpen Church was followed by a gathering at The Laird and Dog in Lasswade, a pub which Alan and I used to frequent when we were at school...

Departing at five and (in hindsight probably unwisely) deciding not to use the City Bypass, it took around fifty minutes to get home...

Good skies...

The latest arrival on the CD front awaited - modern German classical - a few more of which are on their way...

Listening to this led to a wee three work disc in the collection...

Listening to that, in turn, led to further orders, mainly in relation to the works of Mr Ligeti...

On telly "Fields of Blood" was enjoyed, first of a two parter, along with "Don't Trust the B***in Apartment 23" and a rerun of "Big Bang Theory"...

Highlight of the Day : Supporting Count Brodski...
