Up early as usual and working again on the computer system...
At 11, out and down the road to pick up Keith and Maureen for today's visit to Jupiter Artland, just outside Edinburgh (I've added links to the sites for each of the exhibits)...
A horrible dreich day...
We arrived and parked and could immediately see Sam Durrant's "Scaffold"...
...which Anne and I saw last September at Documenta (13), under rather more sunny and crowded circumstances...
On to the ticket office, past a nice pig...
..and some geese...
Just off the reception area, there a was a room containing a small group show by Aleana Egan, Lucia Nogueira and Bojan Sarcevic...
Then, we walked through the rain enjoying each of the exhibits along the way...
"The Weeping Girls" of Laura Ford - which put us very much in mind of Documenta, as did the whole exhibition really)...
Then more Hamilton Finlay - "Temple of Apollo"...
...and "Xth Muse"...
The giant shotgun of Cornelia Parker's "Landscape With Gun and Tree"...
On through the rain and into Nathan Coley's work, "In Memory"...
Maureen reckoned she'd like a last resting place like this...
After around an hour, we completed the first part of the route with "Over Here" by Shane Waltener...
Time for a tasty lunch, under a display of Peter Liversidge's "134 Proposals"...
...one of which we would see later...
Back out into the rain and climbing on the sculpted mounds of "Cells of Life" by Charles Jencks...
On into the woods and Anja Gallaccio's "The Light Pours Out of Me", which got me and Keith singing the Magazine tune of the same name...
"Stone Coppice" by Andy Goldsworthy also impressed...
...as did Tanja Kovats' "Rivers"...
..each bottle contains water from one of the 100 listed rivers...
Whilst walking to the next exhibit, I spotted a South American chum...
Next up was the aforementioned Liversidge's 90th proposal, "A Signpost to Jupiter"...
Anne, Keith and Maureen went off to explore "Love Bomb" by Marc Quinn...
..and on over the hill to "Hare Hill" by Henry Castle, which I forewent to inspect some more Hamilton Finlay, in the form of "Bee Hives"...
...and watched from afar as my accompanying trio also took this one in...
I moved on to "Moon Landing" by the gun sculpting Cornelia Parker...
Donkeys in the distance...
...and, finally, on to "Scaffold"...
We all really enjoyed this trip, despite the dreadful weather...
The park is run by Nicky and Robert Wilson as a non-profit, registered charity...
Robert Wilson is the chairman of Nelsons, a homeopathic healthcare company with a turnover of £35.6m in 2008, which his family has owned since 1972...
Given the excellent day out we had, it might seem churlish to point out that homeopathy is, of course, mostly sugar and water and is not scientifically proven to be of any benefit whatsoever...
Other, that is, than to those who, like Mr Wilson, actually sell the products...
More here...
Back home, the enduring rain was reflected in the garden...
..and my Hindemith String Quartets had finally arrived from the States...
Great collection of top notch 20th Century chamber music...
In the evening, much TV watched "Big Bang Theory", "Two Broke Girls", "Don't Trust The Bitch in Apartment 23" and "Mock the Week"...
A visit too from Kat McKenzie with an update on her album...
She has provided me with one track and very good it sounds indeed...
Then, removing all traces of the not working networked printer from the computer set up...
Not sure where I go from here...
Lights out...
Highlight of the Day : Jupiterland...
