Walking, arting and musicking...

Playlist
Various - Potential Covers

A wild and windy day early on...

We made our way down the hill and had breakfast in Corstorphine before taking the bus into town...

Our target...

..was the newly refurbished National Portrait Gallery...

An impressive building...

Life and death masks of murderers, including Burke & Hare...

...and of people who gave a little more, including Haydn and Mendelssohn...

No pics from me of my favourite place, which housed works from the BP Portrait Award 2012 - some very, very impressive painting on show there...

You can browse the site here, in the meantime, here are a few of my faves, including a goodly number of hyper-realistic items...

On through the gallery...

People and scenes from Scotland's history...

...including William Wallace and Robert the Bruce...

...and the Stuart dynasty...

...including, of course, Mary Queen of Scots...

Out into the present day and still no sign of the tram...

Down Broughton Street to The Bakehouse, our first visit...

Excellent service and provisions from the American staff...

We decided to walk most of the way home...

Down towards Canonmills...

...then heading along towards Stockbridge...

...and onto our usual route along the Water of Leith, much swollen today...

...under the Dean Bridge...

Near the Gallery of Modern Art, we spotted the Heron...

Out at Roseburn and a welcome bus home, to find the window cleaners had been and caused some unwarranted destruction, strangely not mentioned on their bill pushed through the letter box...

Working on ten possible new covers late afternoon - quickly set up the studio and recorded (very) rough versions which will never see the light of day - key problems in the main, leading to much unimpressive warbling from your correspondent...

In the evening, an enjoyable three hour session with Keith and Jamie...

..during which we played not a single one of the thirty songs from ten days ago, instead we tried out a further twenty two...

Next week some more detailed work and sorting out setlists...

Home just before midnight...

Sore legs, due to a rather large step count and three hours on my feet musicking with the boys...

Highlight of the Day : Walking, arting and musicking...
