Capital Models - March 2011

Up at six...

To the PC and uploading some files to Dropbox for Prog Rock Willie...

Out for a good four mile walk with Anne - parking at The Saturday Place...

Over to the Meadows...

Across to Bruntsfield...

To Falko Konditorei for a late breakfast...

Nice swan...

Back down towards Tollcross...

The turret on the top left of the building here in the foreground was once Tony Pilley's Barclay Towers recording studios, where Capital Models "laid down some tracks, man" in May 1980 (the Rezillos recorded there too)...

The recording room was Tony's kitchen and the turret was the control room - you had to climb through a hatch to get there...

You can here the results over on the Capital Models' blog...

The six tracks are amongst those available for streaming on the "Anthology" entry - "Computer Operator", "Orifix", "Dice With Death", "Breaking Silence", "Stuntman" and "For What It's Worth"...

I used the same synth on those recordings as on my latest album 32 years later...

And tomorrow, a trio of ex-Models will commence rehearsals for a covers gig at the end of the year...

Anyway, on down to Tollcross...

In the scene above, behind the clock, once stood Goldbergs Dept Store, where Count Brodski and I worked on Saturdays in late 1976 and the first half and summer of 1977 - I was let go for, amongst other things, being inside a wardrobe when it was opened by a salesman for a customer, to show the latter the interior...

Coincidentally, the Exec Producer's first job was where the green building now stands...

Anyway, back through the Meadows...

...to the car...

...and home...

Out again and new boots were ordered and some dental equipment was procured before heading over to Loanhead to see my mum...

On good form despite remembering only too well what was happening to her youngest daughter around this time last year...

Enjoying a coffee from a charity fund-raising mug...

Home via Tesco and an excellent dinner involving baked potatoes and tasty salad...

Then, the last in the most recent series of "Inspector George Gently" was very good indeed...

With Anne back on "Strictly" watch, followed by the last of "Downton Abbey", your correspondent enjoyed some recently provided sounds from the collection of Prog Rock Willie...

And so we come full turn...

Another inconsequential weekend gone...

Highlight of the Day : New boots which might end up being comfortable...
