Up early and out for breakfast provisions, leaving Anne sleeping...

Local cats entertained...

A hot sunny morning as I found a local bakery for croissants and bread...

Post breakfast...

..enjoyed the views...

...while the the application of much factor 6,000,000 was undertaken...

Then, it was out for some exploring...

Up by the churches...

...and down the steps to the harbour...

...and past the Jean Cocteau museum...

...and the Bastion...

...and on along the waterfront in the, by now, seriously searing heat...

We reached the end of Menton and turned back, having overshot our target of the Palais Carnoles and its exhibitions...

Of course, we arrived right on midday, just as it was closing for two hours...

Nevertheless, the gardens were still enjoyed...

...and we would return for the exhibitions...

Back home for some welcome refreshment...

Then out again into the sun...

...noting another Cloudand Blue Quartet...

...and, indeed, a cloud...

Watched a VW parade go past...

...as we waited to board the “Menton Train” for a tour around the town...

Back home again to get out of the sun...

...where some relaxing reading was undertaken...

In the early evening, we ventured forth for dinner, noting another local cat...

It was still very hot...

You could have fried an egg on my head - and then put it on top of a tasty crepe...

As the sun went down we took a walk around the beaches at the old port - where another Cloudland Blue Quartet was noted...

It was still warm enough for swimming (but not by us)...

We chose instead to take a seat on the rocks...

Before walking back round to the harbour...

...and an ice cold brain-freezing granita...

...and a souvenir purchase to round off the day...

Highlight of the Day : Any hint of shade...
