Menton - St Agnes...

Playlist
Various – Top 100 Artists
Benda – Symphonies 7-12
Allan Holdsworth – Blues for Tony

The relentless good weather continued – suffice to say it was hot...

A visit first thing...

Another new local cat...

After breakfast, we walked up to the church of San Michel...

...before doubling back and heading along again to the Palais Carnoles...

Respecting the “no photos” sign, I was reduced to taking pics through the windows like a pathetic fool...

No restrictions in the gardens though...

...where another Cloudland Blue Quartet was spotted...

An hour or so was then spent sitting in the shade outside a nearby café...

....as we waited on the bus to take us into the mountains...

...to Sainte Agnes...

Here’s the view out of the back window...

..and here’s the village...

This platform gave an excellent panoramic view of the coast...

We could make out the tower of the St Michel church...

We were accompanied by this beastie...

Who was accompanied by these beasties...

We didn’t go into the underground fortress...

...or climb up to the castle ruins...

But we did have some ice cream...

...before the hairy trip back down to the town...

From where we could see back up to St Agnes – just to the right of the top of the palm tree...

Back home...

For pasta and wine...

Out in the evening for a walk around town – only after around 8:30 was the heat anywhere near bearable...

Highlight of the Day : A trip into the mountains...
