Coasting...

This morning - post PC (including an invite in the old inbox to play a gig in November) and breakfast - we left around 10 am to drive away from the rainy weather in Edinburgh and headed down the A1 to England - we're only an hour away from the border...

Our initial target was Bamburgh, where we parked, enjoyed an ice cream from Mr Whippy and then climbed the hill to its impressive castle...

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours looking around this renovated Norman castle and also enjoyed the attaching aviation museum...

Lunch at the Copper Kettle in the village and a visit to the lovely quiet Parish Church...

Then on down the beautiful Northumberland coastal trail to Seahouses...

We walked through the strong winds to the end of the pier, which afforded views to the Farne Islands, back up the coast to Bamburgh and to the Holy Isle at Lindisfarne...

A look around the town and its shops then a further drive on to Alnwick...

..where a tasty hot chocolate was enjoyed by your correspondent at The Chocolate Spa...

Boring old coffee was Anne's choice..

More walking as we wandered around the old town, although we were too late to gain any significant time had we chosen to visit the castle...

So, back up the A1 to Berwick and we replicated our last visit to the town (apart from not seeing Queen of the South thrash Berwick Rangers 5-1) with a drink at the Barrels Alehouse...

..before walking along to the Magna Tandoori for a couple of tasty curries...

Then it was a 60 minute drive back up the road to home...

A very enjoyable day...

Highlight of the Day : Northumberland's coastal trail...

Hey Mr.CBQ it's 45 minutes from Bamburgh to our front door - just follow the coastal route signs. Next time you're in the area and fancy a cuppa tea let me know.

We did a very similar trip back in June which you can take a peek at
here.

Hey Mr S - we shall return - the countryside is beautiful - on this day though, it was extremely windy - hence no visit to the beach - plus my camera ran out of juice - hence the lack of pics - yours of your trip would have put mine to shame anyway though...

Will deffo pop in next time we're on the Northumberland Coastal Trail!

Cheers
