Up reasonably late...
The morning slipped past before we set off at noon to Dumfries for today's Alba Cup Quarter Final between Queen of the South and East Fife, who currently lie third in the 2nd Division...
Every time we drive to Dumfries, around the halfway point, just south of Biggar, we pass this old mill which has been converted into a country pub...
Today we decided to stop in for lunch...
..and very enjoyable it was too...
However, it filled us up so much, our usual Biggar Indian from the Taj Mahal on the way home was put in doubt...
The journey takes around two hours all told and we arrived ouside Palmerston Park at around 2:50...
The birds had taken over the floodlighting...
It was a good exciting game, with East Fife playing well in the first half but Queens just on top, going in 1-0 up at half time...
Just after the break though, a quick second goal followed by an own goal by East Fife ended the contest...
Paul Burns scored the fourth to claim his first ever hat trick, while my favourite, Bob Harris (not the whispering beardy guy from the Old Grey Whistle Test) skelped in a free kick from the edge of the box on 94 minutes to make it 5-0 at full time...
Young "Burnsy" was voted man of the match...
...and got to keep the match ball re his hat trick...
So into the semis for Queens for the first time since they won the cup back in 2002 against Brechin City - your correspondent was in attendance - a good day...
A wee walk around Dumfries which, truth be told, is not the most exciting town in Scotland...
...was followed by a non stop drive home, other than a quick nip into Tesco for ingredients so I could cook tonight's dinner, a three-hours-earlier-Indian-replacing Jambalaya...
Tasty...
On the recommendation of Dr Prog, we watched "Punch-Drunk Love", starring Adam Sandler, which the Doc had opined was a "brilliant" comedy...
I must say the laughs were few and far between and it qualifies as the second worst film watched in recent times, just behind "Being John Malkovitch" - it really was awful...
A repeat of "Live at the Apollo" then bed...
Highlight of the Day : QoS 5, East Fife 0...
