Up just before 6...

...and noted I'd left a site open overnight about which I'd forgotten but which, this morning, led me to collect some German music for the collection...

A solo LP from ex-Tangerine Dream stalwart, Peter Baumann...

Two late 70's/early 80's synthi LPs by Adelbert von Deyen...

Two "singles2 by Deutsch-Amerikanische Feundschaft - with the welcome news that remaining member, Robert Gorl, is working on recordings made with the late Gabi Delgado Lopez to produce some new DAF stuff...

Six (count 'em) albums, including two career spanning compilations by Peter Hein (of Fehlfarben)'s other band, Family 5...

And, to cap it all, a Record Store Day release for 2020, said Fehlfarben, playing their classic debut "Monarchie und Alltag" in its entirety, live in Dusseldorf in 2017, a thing the Exec Producer and I witnessed in Berlin in 2018...

Quite a haul...

Some listening ensued...

Followed by today's classical piece, the final Tchaikovsky and possibly the best, his 6th symphony, from this box...

Yesterday's random album of the day was the soundtrack from "Christiane F : Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo"...

I don't have a record of exactly when I bought this but that means it was post 1983...

With tracks from “Station to Station”, “Low”, “Heroes”, “Stage” and “Lodger” and including the German version of “Heroes/Helden”, it is, of course, a top Bowie compilation...

Meanwhile, outside...

...the squirrels and birds have found a rival feeding station...

Breakfast, bacon rolls - to which an egg was added re mine...

Most of the day was spent watching TV and listening to the new acquisitions, although Anne also made an unrecorded rhubarb and custard dish with rhubarb from chum Lynn, which actually originated from Anne's mum's old garden...

Following on from Bowie above, today's random LP was Yello’s debut, “Solid Pleasure”, acquired on release as a 21st Birthday present from my chum Jorg Sonnenschein...

...followed by some posting up on Twitter of CDs acquired back in January - and given them a wee listen too...

In the evening, an Indian takeaway was followed by however many episodes of "Berlin Station" it took to get us to the end of series 2 - either 5 or six...

Then...

...time for bed...

Highlight of the Day : Binge-watching Berlin Station...

Up quite probably too early but couldn't sleep due to a painful shoulder...

Accordingly, made my way to the back room at stupid o'clock...

..for some monochrome scenes...

1st task of the day was to listen to the recording of last night's podcast to make sure it was ok...

Some outside views as it became brighter...

...then to uploading the podcast...

...while coffee was enjoyed...

..along with today's classical piece, Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony - the penultimate by Mr T...

For breakfast, Anne cooked some bacon - I eschewed the roll and, instead took some scrambled eggs and mushrooms...

As is the way on a Saturday morning, the radio was enjoyed...

..while the hare looked on...

By 11, I'd also managed to bring this nonsense up to date...

And so, to making some scones...

Another reasonable batch...

...one each of which was enjoyed by us with strawberries and a "Father Brown"...

Early afternoon, a hotel was booked for a still hoped for holiday Bavaria in September - we have already cut it short by a week just in case - along with postponing our Welsh trip from May to October - hopefully that too can go ahead...

Soundtracked by some late 70's Italian prog...

...which was deemed merely OK although raved about by some prog-loving Twitterchums...

Another chum, who is more into glam rock, advised he'd just got Dennis Dunaway's Alice Cooper Group biography and was asking if it was any good - I opined it was probably the best of this bunch...

...but that he should also avail himself of the Michael Bruce book - he was the "outsider" of the band but also wrote the best tunes and, indeed, as Dunaway acknowledges, spurred the band on to writing their own material, pushing them on from being a Yardbirds/Who covers band...

Meanwhile, the shoulder was getting worse and, outside, it was now pouring...

...as Prokofiev stepped up to the plate - this the one of the three quartet discs which arrived last week which didn't make it into the podcast...

It's rather good...

..and was followed by a 50 year old album I suggested a while back to a Twitterchum which, today, was suggested back to me so why not....

The CD contains a second session of a further six pieces with an almost completely different lineup - the singing is, of course, hellish but the musicking saves the day...

Another "Berlin Station" late in the afternoon...

Later still, a delivery arrived, a tasty Purcell disc...

...and more new to me quartets...

Before partaking though, I decided to pick CDs at random - three numbers determined the wall section, the subsection within the wall section and the disc itself - while I played the first couple of tracks...

My first two random choices were these...

...both of which were better than expected...

Then, I threw it open to Twitter and got four more suggestions...

...which were enjoyed before a superb, Red Thai Chicken Curry and a half glass of wine...

...which was followed by an episode of "Vera" and a late call to my mum...

Another six suggested discs awaited...

An entertaining random selection...

By this time, the shoulder and, indeed, arm were in agony and I was ready to hit the sack...

Lights out with Harbison's quartets in the cans, Purcell will wait till tomorrow...

Owya!
