A very big happy birthday today to Alice Cooper, my all time fave...

Once again no purcases but I was tracing the new turntable ordered on Saturday night to replace the goosed Ion...

It was on its way...

While making my way home...

...a text from Anne to advise of its arrival...

Ready to roll...

A reasonably quick set up and, of course, the first record played had to be The Coop...

Then, some jazz...

Sounding good...

An Icehouse mix, not heard for many a year...

...received the EP's approval...

Then, further long not heard 12"'s entered the fray...

I have one box of my 7"s down here (the rest are in the attic, for now) - and so gave a few a spin...

Some contain edits which you don't hear that often these days, in particular these from Argent (one of my earliest purchases)...

...and Blue Oyster Cult - these days all the comps tend to keep the annoying break in the middle of the track ...

More cowbell!

This, the first single I remember coming into the house, bought by sister Sheila in 1964...

Then, the single that changed me...

...and the record which, ten years later, soundtracked me and the EP's first dance at our wedding...

This is what a 13 year old boy would do to a fave single...

Still plays fine though...

A rare Pink Floyd track on the B side of this !2"...

The elusive "Part II" - only recently made available on a reissue of "The Final Cut"...

Then, the only Record Store Day special record I've ever bought...

And, finally, last of the day, the Velvets’ debut...

This LP inspired me to make music...

It’s a pretty beaten up copy...

I gave it to sister Pam when I bought it again a few years later...

When she died in 2011, I found it in her collection....

Now it always reminds me of her...

While I mucked about with my records like a teenager in the 70's, Anne painted...

And so, all was good...

Highlight of the Day : New record player...

The view from the office this morning...

The view in the kitchen this morning...

Mmm, beans...

The view from the back room this morning...

Nothing purchased today - quite good - three days in February so far and no purchases...

In the evening, Anne was round at Jane's booking a trip for the sisters in the summer to Malaga...

So, some solo cooking once again...

I have cut the many pics taken of the process to these two...

Tasty...

On Anne's return, some painting was done as I listened to music....

Third again on "University Challenge" - I had to "watch" with my eyes shut due to the participation of the extremely annoying Mr Wang...

I think "Cold Feet" may also have been watched...

Anyway, there you go, an uneventful Monday...

Highlight of the Day : Cooking...

Still getting my phone up to date music wise after wiping it a couple of weeks back now...

Gradually getting there but it takes a while...

This morning a visit from nephew Ali to fix a wayward floor following his work on the house in the late summer...

Post work a very enjoyable breakfast and much chat...

Word of the morning was "fry" - as in who should fry without so much as a trial...

Hmmm...

Rather aptly, breakfast comprised bacon rolls all round...

In the afternoon, a trip out to my mum's...

She continues to be in fine fettle...

In the evening, I think, home made soup...

Then, "Dr Who", preaching once again...

And "Star Trek", once more it has become a fave...

Weekend over...

Highlight of the Day : A visit form the boy...

Inspired by Sid Smith's pics on Twitter of the starts to his day, where he enjoys a cup of tea, an album and a read of some poetry, I ventured into the attic and located these...

Had a wee flick through them...

Some good stuff, some dreadful stuff...

Sid advised he has this one - the cover is by Tom Phillips...

I bought all these around 30 years ago when I worked onsite at a large publishing company...

Every day I'd come home with yet more books - much to the EP's delight...

Anyway...

Out to pick up a cheeky wee croissant for a sleepy exec producer...

Much of the middle of the day spent preparing, recording and uploading this week's podcast...

While Hearts scraped a 3-3 draw away in Perth, for the second week running Queens lost 3-2 at home, this time to Alloa...

I think they may be in trouble...

In the evening, an excellent Ginger Chicken Curry form the the expert hands of the EP...

... followed by two episodes of "Silent Witness" on the Tivo - so, so slow moving and so open to nitpicking - but we still enjoy it...

At the start of the day, I eschewed a Record Fair visit which had been planned with Dr Prog, given his call off...

So, all in all, not the best Saturday ever...

Highlight of the Day : Podcasting, probably...no, Anne's curry of course!
