Playlist
A larger listening list today due to a shuffle session this afternoon...
Up early...
...and, as is the new normal, the first hour or so taken up with the daily tasks and updates...
Trying to be disciplined...
Scenes from the back room...
...and the view from the office...
At 7:30, to gathering in new music re today's new releases (see below)...
Breakfast just after eight...
Out at 8:45 and down the hill with the EP for a bus to that Glasgow...
...soundtracked by new things from Colin Stetson, U2, Hilary Duff, The Olympians and Aadal...
Arrived around 10:15 and the search was on for our to long not met up with Macclesfield chum, Craig Harding...
We set off along Sauchiehall Street...
A message to say he was at a Pret a Porter...
This one?
...no, this one, back at where we'd begun our search...
Found him...
A happy reacquaintance and walk, now as a trio, along the same long street, including a pop into Assai, catching up on stories about work, retirement, his now 18 year old son Olly, his brother Pete - about to do a 68 mile sponsored walk for charity, with a heavy backpack and pushing a wheelbarrow with sandbags to the weight of his daughter, who recently underwent a complicated brain operation...
Eventually to our target, Elmbank Street - we had to circle a couple of blocks re the final 10 minutes before The Griffin opened its doors...
In and Morettis, a Cruzcampo and good chat enjoyed...
It was the very welcome return of Macclesfield Craig...
At 12, over the road to Sannio - we were the only diners, and enjoyed a good leisurely lunch with a couple of Morettis and glass of Pinot Grigio, starters of Goat's Cheese Bruschetta, Polpette and Pate...
...and unpictured by me but illustrated from Tripadviser mains of Penne Salsiccia...
...and stories a plenty, including the likes of the Shed of Shame and the Berlin Extra Days, exchanged...
We said our goodbyes around 3 as Craig went off to try and grab some sleep before the real object of his trip (on a bus this morning from 2 till 6), to see the band Wrest at the Oran Mor this evening...
He has not yet retired...
A walk back to the station and, for once on a trip to Glasgow, no music purchases...
Au revoir to the Griffin...
...and the Glasgow architecture...
...and the 3:30 bus home...
...soundtracked by an entertaining 16 tracks via shuffleplay...
...and a walk back up the hill, arriving 8 hours and 10 minutes post our departure this morning...
The final two episodes of "Younger" enjoyed and, for once, a thing we'd watched for ages (84 episodes) came to a satisfactory end for all the characters we'd been following...
Some very risky ski-ing enjoyed from the Olympics - soundtracked by the excellent Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis and Adam Wakeman's Jazz Sabbath...
A late small tea of toast and fruit and a "Chicago PD" took us to the end of the night...
There were updates from Craig from the Oran Mor though...
Allan Pettersson's 3 Concertos for String Orchestra, a 2CD set on CPO...
A sound unlikely to be confused with any other 20th-century composer...
CPO is a great label for composers of whom you've never heard!
To bed with Moby in the cans, followed by CBQ's upcoming song-based album, "Broken"...
A very good day...
Highlight of the Day: The return of Macclesfield Craig...
