Gig day...

Up late...

A text from Johnny W's wife, Moira - JW at A&E...

Turned out too keyboard Paul, who had advised on the gig offer that he couldn't make it, was coincidentally also at A&E, with his old mum...

And so a day spent sorting...

Options...

1. John W is able to play

2. We play as a trio with Keith on Drums and me/John on Bass/Guitar

3. We play guitar/Bass/Drums and play along to the rehearsals tracks from the last 2 rehearsals

4. We play along to my collection of backing tracks - I got the entire three sets ready - some would be in different keys but we could either adapt or turn our volume down and mime.  I had previously rehearsed them all

Word from Moira, John W out...

And so the remaining trio agreed to go with option two...

We would play as a trio, without having had any rehearsals...

I was sure it would go swimmingly...

Our fifth different formation in 11 gigs - we are masters of doing what needs to be done!

Anne was off out to play Pickelball...

I was rehearsing...

Packed up around 3:30 or so and we left for the venue at 4:15...

At 5, we loaded in...

Plenty of room on the stage...

Soundcheck was a wee bit fraught but, in the end we were happy...

Vocals unable to be heard on stage - I really need to get a new mixing desk!

Everything else was fine...

The audience gathered (for the bingo, it has to be said)...

We were to follow at 8...

The bingo is the best support act a band could ask for - they all stay on for the music...

After the opening song, Anne advised vocals needed to be boosted - I did so...

After around 5 songs I donned the headphones and could at last hear the mix the audience were hearing...

A very enjoyable three sets - loadsa dancing...

On receiving the text first thing, I couldn't have predicted how well it would all have turned out have gone...

Take down while the home made disco played...

We called a taxi for Malcolm - but he headed off before it arrived...

He needs a mobile phone...

Home before 1 and managed to get everything back into the house rather than leaving in the garage overnight...

Highlight of the Day: Unexpectedly pulling a top performance out of the fire...
