Up to do stuff first thing, including a rehearsal for Whitby...

Au revoir to the EP around 8:30...

Out...

..and down the hill...

...for the bus to Waverley...

Today, was this...

Luke was on time and had, kind of, all the necessary tickets etc...

Good chat on the 90 minute journey...

To the Centurion at Newcastle Stadium...

Drinks and Luke trying to sort the tickets home...

Chatting to two Newcastle fans before more attempts at ticket sorting...

I had been drafted in as his son couldn't make it - the tickets were on his young person's railcard...

I am not a young person...

Done, sort of, we'll see...

Met a couple of Luke's chums at the Newcastle Tap - given my free entry to the football and train travel status, the drinks were on Mr CBQ...

Farewells said and out and onwards...

Yep, we were in Newcastle...

Lunch from the Clayton St Chippy also enjoyed by Anne and I on our last trip here...

More chums met - this time, Brighton fans...

The Goose, Percy St, was the venue...

Again, farewells said and out...

...to the ground...

...and in...

Views...

First half, Newcastle were on top but a goal by vetaran Welbeck, following a quickly taken free kick that found the Magpies' defence off guard, put Brighton in front, against the run of play...

Half time pie for the big man - pint for the not so big man...

No joy for the Black and White army in the second half...

Welbeck was stretchered off - 10 minutes injury time added...

Last chance...

...but a 1-0 loss in his six pointer...

Back home Anne had watched Hearts thrash St Mirren 4-0 - in Aberdeen, QoS went down 2-0...

Two weeks ago they were top, now...

...but still only 2 points off the top...

Tight league...

The crowd exited swiftly...

...and we were soon back at the station - supplies purchase and onto the packed train...

...for more chat and shenanigans...

Back in Edinburgh just after 7 - giving Luke a fright as I appeared to almost stumble into the path of an oncoming train - but I was in control - oh yes...

Cheerios on Princes St as he headed for the East Calder Bus while I took a 26 to the terminus...

...and a walk down to Crispycat Towers...

...where "Taskmaster" and football highlights were enjoyed before hitting the sack...

Enjoyable day...

Highlight of the Day : Trip to Newcastle...
