Art and music and food...

Various - 2024 LPs of the Day Playlist

Really slept in...

Out asap though...

...and back to Jerusalem for breakfast...

...and, then, to one of the absolute highlights of the trip, the Roberto Polo Collection...

You can read about him, "warts and all", here on his own website...

Given the number of pictures I took, I will, for the most part, let them do the talking...

Lois Lane - but surely not that Lois Lane?

And out...

Yowsah!!

Views...

Behind the hedge is the sculpture garden...

Lunch/Tea shopping at Carrefour and home...

Lunch in our own courtyard...

...and then out, taking half the empenada and crisps with us for tea tonight...

Down and onto the bus for the drive to Guadalmur...

A slightly larger crowd today...

...including Mr Bruford, seen here entering the building...

The stage was set...

...for tip top Iranian jazz act, Quartet Diminished...

...who concluded their set with a slightly dodgy (re the singing) cover of King Crimson's "Starless" - but that didn't really take away from the music that came before...

For the second act of the evening, we moved up the back - to get away from the selfish dick near us in the front row, who kept jumping up and walking around the auditorium taking pictures - he was not press, he was an extremely annoying fellow audient...

But, somehow, he still haunted us up the back of the theatre...

Anyway, next up was Susan Clynes, who sang a trio of songs accompanying herself on piano...

She's married to the guitarist of the next act The Wrong Object, who were very good indeed, apart from their Frank Zappa cover - but that was down to the material rather than the band...

Ms Clyne joined them for a vocal number..

...which caused consternation in our row...

But the re-appearance of the bass clarinet player from Quartet Diminished lifted matters once again...

Then, prep for David Cross - everything was running extremely late by this time...

Before Mr Cross, an explanation as to how hard it is to learn and play the King Crimson piece "Fracture" - from Anthony Garone...

Who then proceeded to play it - along to the original track...

He received a standing ovation for his efforts...

Then, coming on very late indeed, The David Cross Band - featuring new recruit John Mitchell on guitar...

Their rendition of the King Crimson album, "Larks' Tongues in Aspic", in its entirely, received a standing ovation...

They closed with a rather better version of "Starless" (having also played "Red" earlier on)...

Saturday over...

Onto the bus around 1:15 am...

..and to bed around 2...

Another very enjoyable day...

That's a proper marathon of cultural extremes. What a day.

Cheers John! Even if we try to relax on holiday - it always ends up being full on!
