An evening in a castle...

Playlist
Various - 2024 LPs of the Day Playlist

Slept in...

Headed out for breakfast...

...back to Cafelito...

...but it wasn't open due to technical problems...

Back to the apartment and checked out...

Then, trundling with the cases down towards Atocha Station, we stopped at Granier, sucked in by their offer of three croissants for just 2 Euros...

The coffee was so good, I had two...

On past the Reina Sofia...

...to the station...

Sadly, unlike the last time, no access to the turtles in the indoor garden...

Through security and into the waiting area before being allowed onto the platform (only happens with a few minutes to go before the train leaves)...

I spotted this ad...

I thought it might be some Spanish pop star I could investigate.  But she's an American, winner of The Voice or something...

Rejected...

The wait continued - a call with Sheila - more details re mum...

Finally, onto the train...

...for a lovely smooth non stop journey...

...to Toledo, our base for the next four days...

An impressive station indeed...

The walk up into the town...

...was much improved by the escalator system...

We found our new apartment and were met by the host who spent some considerable time introducing us to Toledo, places to see, places to go, places to eat...

And alos provided us with quite a welcome re his home made carrot cake and jars of cookies...

..and well stocked cupboards...

...and fridge...

Unpacked and out...

...for views...

...and, at the recommended Antonios, beers...

..and the best tortilla bocadillos in Spain...

This might be Antonio...

From there we wended our way through the back streets...

...and home for coffee and cake...

In the early evening, down the hill...

...to the old bridge...

...and over...

...and up the hill on the other side to the Castillo San Servando...

...for the first of four nights of the MoonJune Festival, the reason for our trip to Spain, around which we'd fashioned quite a nice wee holiday...

The stage was set for the low key welcoming event...

There was a reception for those and such as those, including the majority of the musicians who would be playing over the course of the weekend...

We met up with our old friend Sid Smith, who will be moderating two events over the weekend, which has all been organised by Mr MoonJune, Leonardo Pavkovic...

...who introduced the performers and supporting team...

...before we were entertained by solo sets from Dutch singer-songwriter, Anton Roolaart...

...and Italian "vocal looper", Boris Savoldelli...

All too soon, we were heading home through the unexpected rain, in Spain...

...once again, thankful for the escalator...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : A splendid apartment...
