This was happening back home...

...but this was the view from the office this morning...

A tasty breakfast at the hotel...

Bean-tastic!

And Anne even had something from the "pastry section"...

Then out for a day of , mostly, art...

Just a few minutes walk took us to the Biscuit Factory in the Ouseburn area of the city...

This was one of the finest art based buildings I've experienced...

However, despite just about everything that was on display being for sale, we failed to make a purchase...

Enjoy the views...

We coveted tis £2,000 table...

This was a fave for me...

...while Anne's fave was the wee man with the folded arms in the centre of the three seated figures...

I preferred the angels - Anne's man seems to be letting me know what he thinks about that...

Look at the workmanship here...

Anne did not like this artist's work...

There was something about it that connected with me though...

Another fave for me...

A good fox...

...and this was superb...

Even the toilet doors were arty...

Back down...

...and out...

An excellent building and contents...

We walked deeper into the Ouseburn district and stumbled upon this wee second hand stuff outlet, Bibelot Nook...

Onwards...

...we walked, finding the water of the Ouseburn itself and following it...

...past this "interesting" boat...

...and "interested" seagull...

We tried for a coffee at the Out There Brewing Company but it was closed despite looking open...

Onwards...

...to the end of the path and over a bridge to The Toffee Factory...

...which turned out to be merely offices for small businesses...

We kept going along Quayside and crossed the Millennium Bridge...

...to the Baltic...

Pre a look round, we had the coffee/juice we'd craved...

...along with some other things we liked...

This was, necessarily, "lunch" re the large breakfast earlier...

We took the lift to the top floor - we had not been here since 2009...

The current exhibitions did not float our boats...

The ebst thing seemed to be the mirrors placed at the top and bottom of the staircase...

Yep, the mirrors were the highlight...

Out and back over the river in search of a drink - we could not get a seat at our fave the Crown Posada so walked up past the station, catching this on the way (which I'd also noted when here for the races back in July 2022)...

Having consulted my entry for our visit here in 2009, we sought out the Swan Inn, which sems to have disappeared and the Forth, which is still here...

Once again I went fruit based, with a Rhubarb Cider...

...and another...

Then, back to the Crown Posada...

This time seats were available...

......and the barman span Roxy Music's Greatest Hits on the old record player...

Just as the LP drew to a close, it was time for us to enjoy our anniversary tea because today marked the 44th anniversary of the Beast and its Exec Producer's liaison...

Down towards the bridges and Rani...

The starters were so good, they were almost gone by the time I remembered to document them...

We shared the mixed vegetable pakora and an Alloo Tikki Chat - a potato and green pea patty, Tawa fried with sweet yoghurt, Tamarind sauce and mint chutney...

Yum...

Mains were, for me, Lamb Belly Ram, a secret curry invented by the chef of Rani back in 1993 - so, only available here and it was superb...

...while there was another Rani special for Anne, the chicken Dhabba (Roadside) curry...

One last walk through the cold and back to the hotel for listening, watching and sleeping...

Another excellent, packed day...

Highlight of the Day : The Biscuit Factory and anniversary curry...
