Happy 94th birthday to my dad - without whom (and without my mum), nothing of this, of course...

A day of musicking...

Up and listening to Fehlfarben , following the recent discovery of their 1982 appearance on Rockpalast - going through their "recent" discography while creating a spreadsheet of who appeared on which LP - this is how I waste my time...

Then, in preparation for today's session, our first for over a month, listening back to my duo session with keyboardist Paul to hear again on the improvements we put in place and to the last full band session...

This listening is how I "practice"...

Packing...

...and, post breakfast, off out to pick up Paul (having dropped off Anne at her mum's re church duty) and to head out to Roslin for 10 am...

A four hour session ensued...

It seemed not too bad at the time...

No pics documented...

Discussions too around possible gigs and the wedding sets in May...

Home around 5 after taking Paul home - a long day...

Tea and telly then, to editing the sessions...

On listening back tonight, it seemed there wasn't one single song, of the 39 we played, where no errors were made...

But then, that’s what rehearsals are like..

The "tapes" were ready for the edit...

45 minutes excised from session 1 (mostly on trying to get the timings right on "Spider and I" and in working on a new arrangement for "Ashes to Ashes") plus a few face saving repairs...

Only 15 minutes needed to be removed from session 2 as we bashed through the second set...

Removals included a couple of the run throughs of the chord sequence at the end of "Like a Hurricane", which contained horrendous errors by yours truly but whose removal left the 10 closing repeats as per Neil Young’s original...

In all, the two sets lasted 2hrs 12mins (as expected) but, as noted above, not a truly satisfying listen...

Still work to be done…

And so, to bed with the day in the cans...

Highlight of the Day : Playing...
