Up after 8 and editing yesterday's tapes to just the songs - a couple had two versions each and I missed the whole of the second set and the start of the third due to, initially, a battery run out and, then, concentrating so much in playing that I forgot to hit the record button...

We need an engineer!

A walk to the local store for breakfast and lunch provisions...

A good morning...

Re-recorded and uploaded a shorter version of the "Bowie in Berlin" podcast - in line with Mixcloud's Terms and Conditions...

(a) No more than 3 songs from one album (and no more than 2 consecutively)
(b) No more than 4 songs from one recording artist (and no more than 3 consecutively)
(c) No more than 4 songs from one compilation (and no more than 3 consecutively)

...which takes the running time down from 80 to 36 minutes...

In the afternoon to the cinema - ideal attendance i.e. very few people indeed and all respectful of the conventions of yore - no talking, no texting, no mucking about...

Our viewing was "Interstellar" which, while being quite excellent in my view (space, robots and time travel - what's not to like?), wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped...

But, to be that, it would have to have outdone "2001 : A Space Odyssey" - which would have been extremely difficult...

It was then, one of the best films I've seen of the genre, a genre which is particularly enjoyed by your earthbound correspondent...

And a film which, a rarity for me, I would like to see again...

Home for some soup and toast and out again, this time to the Queens Hall...

...for the first of four string quartet recitals in the 50th Anniversary Season of the New Town Concerts Society, which was set up in 1965 to try and fill the "49 weeks of darkness" between annual Edinburgh International Festivals...

Tonight we heard works by Purcell, Haydn, Beethoven and Shostakovich, played by the world famous Emerson String Quartet from New York, with their recent new cello recruit and maker of various, no doubt unintentional, comedy facial expressions, Paul Watkins...

Quite breathtaking musicianship from these four grey haired gentlemen, much enjoyed by a packed audience, the majority of whom sported the same hair colour...

Home for some late night listening...

A packed and enjoyable day...

Highlight of the Day : Space travel and string quartets...
