Up late but still early enough not to be late for my meet with Dr Prog at the music library...
I was, of course, late...
However, he was later still...
So, I win...
This on the way from the Saturday parking place...
I sat in the library reading a book on Eno's "Another Green World"...
The Doc arrived and was noted perusing some discs...
It transpired he didn't recognise my new bearded look...
He was disappointed that Anne was not along - I'd left her snoozing, with possible lurgi onset...
We both borrowed a couple of items and emerged into the daylight to find this clever crow about to rob the person who'd left a bag with some food in it attached to their parked bike...
'Mon the crows!
To Victoria Street...
...and a brand new cafe which just opened yesterday - Stag Espresso...
An illicit scone was enjoyed by your bearded and slimmer but not slim enough yet correspondent...
Dr Prog waxed lyrical about the chocolate brownie of which he'd partaken...
And of his attendance at last night's Wishbone Ash gig in Edinburgh...
And we both expressed admiration for "Interstellar" (both of us being fans of "2001" of course)...
The Doc has also recently viewed "Mr Turner" and recommends it strongly...
He was jealous of our having witnessed the Emerson Quartet on Monday night...
And so, exit...
..and down to the Grassmarket, where, at a record stall, a couple of DVDs entered Phil's collection, while I snapped up a rare to me disc of William S Burroughs and David Sylvian's 2CD anthology "Everything and Nothing"...
Back up to Greyfriars and a farewell...
Some lunchtime provisions secured and drive home in the winter sun, soundtracked by the wonderful voice of Mr Burroughs...
The first episode of "Gotham" was enjoyed followed by some listening to a recommendation from the Doc, Fanger & Schönwälder - a little like Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schulze but not quite as good...
Then, a play through of King Crimson's second LP, whilst reading through the Facebook comments of Sid Smith's King Crimson Record Club, who had done the same thing yesterday evening...
In footie, finally got to see Scotland's wonder goal which secured victory over the Republic of Ireland last night and Queen of the South held out for a 0-0 draw against Hearts' arch rivals Hibernian, here in Edinburgh...
Meanwhile, Count Brodski must have been in a quandary over whom to support re Alloa's visit to Castle Greyskull - which resulted in a surprising 1-1 draw...
All of this soundtracked by a great borrow from last week, Nucleus..
Both of these results favour Annie's Heart of Midlothian, who continue to sit at the top of the table, unbeaten so far this season after another win this evening, 2-1 at Falkirk...
Two hours of solo rehearsals re tomorrow's Capital Models session were fitted around a tasty wee Chinese takeaway for tea and the return of "Atlantis"...
Meanwhile, I suspect there will be more interest in the umpteenth Best of Bowie compilation (downloaded tonight, released on Monday) than in the new CBQ album due in December...
Funnily enough...
Not to worry...
I may even get round to some Busoni later on...
Highlight of the Day : New music and Dr Prog meet...
