A long lie till
8:15 then up and out by 8:40 for another two and half mile circuit of the Tesco
route...
A quick turnaround to
pick Anne up and then walked down to the Zoo...
...from where we took the bus to Wester
Coates...
....with the intention of walking the further two miles or so to Fopp...
First though, we stopped off at
new place, Jacob Artisan Bakery for breakfast...
Albums by Echo and
the Bunnymen, Van Morrison (my first ever – have always believed him to be
vastly over-rated), Dusty Springfield and a couple of DVDs were purchased...
On to Fopp, where
someone appears to have offloaded a reasonable collection into the second
hand section – CDs at just £2 a pop...
A Bill Nelson album,
formerly owned on vinyl, taken new at £3 plus second hand discs by Dick Dale, Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, Captain Beefheart,
Bonnie Prince Billy, The Decemberists and Moby...
Plus, also 2nd hand for £2, the rare RCA
version of David Bowie’s “Hunky Dory”, currently on offer on the net for
around £50...
Down to Princes St past this Lego Santa...
...and on to the German
market...
On through Princes Street
Gardens...
...to MacAllister Matheson
Music, in search of a particular last present for Anne which was not in
stock at either HMV or Fopp – alas, MMM were also out of stock...
A reviving coffee
at Lovecrumbs on the West Port...
Anne liked it...
Sadly, following the early Kassellers, there was no room for cake on this occasion - but we will return...
A walk down Morrison St , past Haymarket and back
Wester Coates for the airport bus to the bottom of the hill...
By the time we’d
climbed it back home (me for the second time today)...
...we’d walked around seven
miles (nine for me) – a good total, especially considering there’s not going to
be much walking done tomorrow...
“It’s a Wonderful
Life” set the tears flowing during its annual Xmas Eve screening at Crispycat Towers ...
Then we cooked (mostly Anne cooked) a lovely Xmas Eve tea...
...which Meg the Black Cat also enjoyed...
Cats and red wine, not a good mix...
Caught the end of an animated "A Christmas Carol" before the moving final episode of "Merlin", which we've watched since it started in 2008...
In the end it was true to the accepted original version of the story and there was no easy get out...
"The Snowman and the Snowdog", kept the lump in the throat going...
Comedy from "Outnumbered" with all three children having aged considerably since the last outing - took a while to get going but ended being up to the usual high standards...
Ended the day ripping and listening to the new purchases and the sets for Saturday's gig...
Highlight of the Day : It's a wonderful life, no, really, it is...
