Back to Paisley this afternoon - out of the mist of Edinburgh and into the Western sun...

To the Art Gallery...

The exhibition is being hung...

The room of art by guests looks like this...

...as opposed to this...

...or indeed this...

Not to worry - my works were not the only ones not to make the cut...

Spent an hour or so walking around Paisley town centre, which has its moments...

Purchased some CDs from two of the myriad charity shops...

Spotted what I think used to be the cinema where I saw the original Batman film in the mid sixties...

...and this rather sad sight - asking the populace to "imagine" there's a big new department store here - chances of it actually happening, probably nil...

On my way back to the car, I spotted a fellow rejectee...

Stopped off at my old school and took a wee look around - like most things from my time in Paisley (age 1 to age 7), it's a lot smaller than I remember (but I am a lot larger than I was)...

..then, to the street where I lived...

..and the house where I lived...

...and its back garden, which looks as overgrown and neglected as it did when we left it in 1966...

..the same year this was built - I know because I got my fingers caught in the bricks whilst playing on the small building site from which it rose...

The road I used to walk along to school is much the same apart from a few new houses in what was the small wood which me and my chums played in - some of the land remains untouched though...

I probably used to climb these trees...

The shortcut we used to take is long overgrown...

The golf course, whose sandpits we used for games of "best man fall", is still going strong however...

Nearby Barshaw Park was busy with Good Friday revellers...

..as I drove past it and into Glasgow to Byres Road...

...to Fopp, obviously...

..only for a few minutes though as they were closing at 5 for Easter...

Managed to nab 2 jazz CDs - Chick Corea and Monk/Coltrane...

Took a walk past the Botanics...

...and along Great Western Road...

...and the bridge over the Kelvin...

Stumbled across a shop new to me, Lost Chord...

The Clash, Jack Bruce and Gentle Giant were partaken of, along with a Michael Nyman collection...

Back in the early evening sun to the car...

...and drove to Garrowhill, where my dad's parents once lived...

This area used to be tennis courts where my mum and dad played...

...and my grandfather was the organist at this Church, at the top of a hill in the same park...

Their house was the dark one in the middle - it'll mean nothing to you...

I took the kids out the boot and put them on the back seat for the journey home...

Then, back along the M8, past the red sheep at Livingston...

Back home with the rejected works...

..which were returned to their normal positions...

Then, listening to the nine new purchases...

...before picking Anne up from her Ballet adventure tonight with chum Debbie - an adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" which sounded very interesting and entertaining from the account provided...

A busy day...

Highlight of the Day : Visiting old haunts...

Sorry to hear of your rejection...some other expo, some day.
I used to work in Paisley Gas Works in 1974, also had a few band practices there, I guess that's gone now...

The people of Paisley aren't ready for my abstractions quite yet it seems...

Re the Gas Works...small world indeed...
