Once again up early but just writing this up really and some surfing and downloading some latest Canadian compilations and some weirdy jazz from Destination Out...

Meg the Black Cat helped out...

Breakfast at home and some music listening (surprise) and music learning (Cockney Rebel-wise) before we left for Perth just after midday...

Today was the Alba Cup Final (postponed from November) with Queen of the South taking on Ross County...

As usual when heading to St Johnstone’s ground, we got lost, despite having printed off directions – still, it only took around an hour to get there...

Of course it’s right on the outskirts of town so the only real option for lunch was the café in nearby Tesco’s...

Then, to the game, purchasing a programme on the way in...

The Exec Producer had not forgotten the tickets...

...and we got to our seats in the sun...

...early enough to catch the warm up...

Having beaten Ross County this season in Dingwall and being a good few places ahead of them in the league, hopes were high...

Queens were dreadful and, alas, it was a disastrous day...

We got off to a terrible start as, within ten minutes, it was 1-0, due to a stupid blundering goal – our goalie, having tried to dribble the ball past their centre forward, proceeded to lose the ball and fall over, allowing said centre (an ex-Queens player no less) to slot home into an empty net...

Queens never came back from that...

With around ten minutes to half time though, they had a period of reasonable pressure, only for County to break away, sweep downfield and show us how to finish a move...

Aargh – 2-0 at half time...

In the second half, Queens were slightly better but that may have been because County didn’t have to do much but sit back, soak everything up and try and create chances on the break...

And so Queens lost the Cup 2-0 – credit to Ross County though, worthy winners...

Of course we riposted their fans' taunts of "Cheerio, cheerio" with "Going down, Going  down"...

Such is the childishness of football supportership...

Despite the beating, our team had made it to the final and we applauded them anyway, all the earlier booing and heckling forgotten for now...

...and they applauded us...

A brisk walk back to the car and out the car park in a flash – we thought we’d be queuing for at least 30 minutes but we were back home within an hour of the full time whistle...

We relaxed and reflected in the back garden, followed by a commiserative Chinese takeaway, another Tivo’d “Glee” (it’s getting slightly better) and the first part of the last ever and, tonight, not quite so preposterous, “Waking the Dead”...

Not a good day – apart from the scorching weather at 21 degrees...

Highlight of the Day : Well, it would have been Queens winning the cup but...
