A call from Pam first thing - sounding great - still no word on when she might be discharged but, right now, hospital's probably the best place for a few more days...

The weather was wild, wet and windy...

Around noon, I headed into town to meet up with Dr Prog - soundtracked by the strange pairing of Broken Records and Ornette Coleman...

Upstairs on the bus, right at the front - just like the big kid I am...

Handed back the discs borrowed last week but didn't find anything new - swithered over a box set of Ligeti but decided I'd never listen to it...

Down into the Grassmarket...

...and to the new home of Avalanche - entertained by owner Kevin's explanation to a new recruit as to exactly how to file CDs - not to labour the point but he was definitely labouring the point...

A bite to eat at CQ cafe (as opposed to CBQ Cafe) - not the best but was ok...

Then up Victoria St heading for Princes St and FOPP...

The Doc decided to take a look in folk specialists Coda on the way - I opined my sympathy for the staff re having to listen to such shit music all day...

However, I did find the new re-recording and best of double CD by one of my faves, Dar Williams, for whose postponed concert from early December we still await confirmation of a rescheduled date some time this year...

We noted a Vermeer Exhibition at the National Gallery and made our way in...

Did you know there are only 37 Vermeer paintings in existence (of which the originality of three is in question)...

So we were honoured to see the three (count 'em) which comprised this "exhibition" - mind you the one and only exhibition thus far of my own paintings comprised just five works...

Of course, far be it from me to compare myself to Vermeer - all I'm saying is there are fewer original "Reillys" in the world than there are original "Vermeers"...

Here's an arty collage of the room in question, with its three 350 year old paintings...

Post this we finally made it to FOPP but nothing was of any allure to us and, bidding the doc a fond farewell, I made my way home to the funky sounds of Lee Morgan...

On the way, I was advised by text by the Exec Producer that QoS were beating Falkirk 3-0 away from home at half time (a score which stood till full time) while Hearts at Dundee Utd was postponed...

A slightly brighter view of the front of Crispycat Towers than that posted up in the last few days (due to my earlier arrival home) - click to enlarge and get the full effect of my arty farty processing...

In the evening, Dar Williams was enjoyed and a buoying call from Pam's chum Debbie was received re Debbie's two visits over the last two days...

A Tivo'd BBC4 Documentary on Krautrock was also enjoyed and inspired me to dig out and give a spin to a 2CD retrospective of Hans-Joachim Roedelius bought in Manchester a couple of years ago...

An update call to my mum then "Match of the Day " then bed with a retrospective 3CD box set on the Island label in the cans...

Highlight of the Day : Unrelated here imagined comedic situations with Dr Prog - and chatting with a much improved sister Pam...
