Up early, despite last night’s celebrations, to ensure Pam took her daily medicine on time…

Compiled my annual lists of CDs of the year (see below) then my compadres emerged for the day…

Brunch around 11…

…followed by the annual New Year’s Day concert live from Vienna, very kindly beamed into Pam’s home by Eurovision and the BBC…

An excellent way to start 2011…

A visit to chums Julie and John with their family, daughters Libby and Annie…

..and football mad twin sons, Alfie and Freddie…

Then off round the M25 and along the M4 and out of the drizzle to Windsor….

…where, post a wander around the castle environs…

…and shopping opportunities (I proudly declined the offer of a visit to HMV), we enjoyed late afternoon coffee and cakes…

…before strolling across the river and into adjoining Eton

…complete with its comedy-named Primary School

...and other impressive buildings...

As darkness fell and the drizzle finally caught up with us, we left Eton and recrossed the bridge…

…and were nicely warmed up in the King and Castle pub where Anne enjoyed the oft shown winning goal for Hearts versus Hibs in today’s Edinburgh derby...

...while Pam learned of brief hospitalisations (both now happily discharged but still under the weather) of Suzanne’s Olivia re her recent allergic reaction and of her Edinburgh chum Liz’s partner Terry re swine flu…

Back to the car...

...past “The Crooked House”…

...and home within 40 minutes after an enjoyable day out…

We started 2011 as we ended 2010, with a takeaway from the nearby small shopping precinct – tonight it was the turn of the Indian, situated right next door to last night’s Chinese meal provider…

The day was rounded off with the Stewart Francis DVD Anne gave me for Xmas (an unbelievable 80 minutes solid of “one liners” – brilliant) – followed by “Match of the Day” which we had to watch till the end to see Pam’s team, Tottenham Hotspur, defeat Fulham by 1-0…

Off to bed, late again…

A good day…

Highlight of the Day : A visit to Windsor & Eton…
