Canals, record shops, sandwiches, fiery curries, The Bad Plus, and peach beer...

Playlist

The view from the office this morning...

Schindler's Lift...

Top breakfast on the top floor...

...before taking the lift back down...

..and out for a long walk...

Along Whitworth Street...

...to the Rochdale Canal...

...and then, splitting up, with Anne opting to walk up the Deansgate, while I took a free bus to the town centre...

...and was soon at Vinyl Exchange - glad I didn't buy this as I already have it...

A swift look around Piccadilly Records but I have lost the appetite for shelling out large sums for CDs...

Picked up a couple of things round the corner at Vinyl Revival...

Can't recall the name of this place - but what a mess...

In Oxfam, this...

Then, back at Vinyl Exchange, these for £11 all told...

Anne met me there and, after a walk about...

...we queued at nearby Rustica...

...for the best sandwiches in Manchester (probably)...

More walking about...

We went round in a huge circle looking for a coffee shop - stopping off at another record shop (nothing enticed)...

...and ending up at On the Hush...

...for a seat and a drink...

Then, briefly, back home...

...before heading back out for tea at Sangam, formerly Swadesh, our fave Manchester Indian back in the day...

This starter tasted like very tasty and very fiery chicken but was, in fact, cauliflower...

...while Anne enjoyed pakora...

Soon polished off...

The mains were huge...

...and extremely tasty but, unusually for us, food was left...

Right now, I could, of course, eat all of that, no problem...

Oh well...

A walk to The Band on the Wall ensued...

We were last here in 2016 for Dar Williams...

Tonight, we were here for The Bad Plus...

A superb set was played...

Casa Ben
French Horns
Carrier
Your Lady (John Coltrane cover)
Sun Wall
Salvages
Anthem for the Earnest
Tyrone's Flamingo
You Are
Cupcakes I
You Won't See Me Before I Come Back

Encore
The Dandy

At one point, the band playing in the next room could be heard over Reid Anderson's introductions...

He coped...

On our way out, said other band were still playing...

We will see the Bad Plus again later in July - their Edinburgh date wasn't announced until after we'd shelled out for the trains, the hotel and this gig...

Not to worry...

We walked home...

...stopping off at Night & Day for a peach beer each - Beth Orton had been playing here tonight...

Along Canal Street again...

...and back to where we'd started this morning...

A top day...
