Monster Munch...

Playlist

First full day in Oslo and I was up early enjoying the apartment and the views...

...before a walk to the local store for breakfast provisions...

...and breakfast enjoyed...

A tram into town...

...alighting at the National Museum...

...Town Hall...

...and the Nobel Peace Prize centre...

We set out on the harbour promenade...

...including the Akershus Castle and Fortress...

...stopping for coffee and cake...

Good views were afforded us...

Then, a walk to the next part of the harbour...

...stopping off for pizza slices for lunch...

The opera house was our destination..

We popped inside for a cool down...

...before climbing to the top of the building...

...which gave us a good view of the Munch Museum...

Twin Exec Producers...

The view of the inside, from the outside...

To the Munch to enquire about tonight's free entry scenario...

...and then...

...a walk into the city centre...

We split up, with Anne intending to visit the Town Hall and me heading for a record shop...

In...

..and found a few "local" things by people I'd never heard of...

...Anne joined me as I paid at the counter - she'd been unwilling to wait in a huge queue to gain access to the Town Hall and had noticed rather "over zealous" security arrangements...

And out - these at the door...

From here, we walked to the nearby Royal Palace...

...and enjoyed a seat in the garden...

Further walking ensued as we made our way back down to the harbour...

...before finding a bar, The Sir Winston, for a couple of drinks...

Then, back past the railway station...

...and the Opera House...

...to the Munch and the queue of freeloader, like ourselves...

There now follows probably far too many pics of the exhibitions at the Munch Museum...

I must advise that they caused me to leave with much more admiration for his work than I had upon entering...

We made our way to the top of the building first of all...

...for this...

Down a floor...

...for this...

Friezes for the walls of a chocolate factory...

Down again, for this...

And down again for this...

...and this...

...and down again...

...for the final act...

Including, of course, these...

The originals are kept in a special room, with each of the three being displayed, in turn, every thirty minutes...

While we waited for the third of the three displays, there was time to take in the last paintings in the gallery...

A black and white copy of this is on the wall in our apartment...

Showtime...

This was the best I could get...

Back out into the evening sunshine...

...and, near the cathedral...

...chicken on rice...

...from Sizzl...

...followed by a tram home...

...and more "Homeland" to end the day...

Highlight of the Day : The opera house roof...
