How's this for a Sunday morning?

Up super early...

...and more work on the four new songs...

...before a quick breakfast and into the car to pick up Paul and off out to Roslin for today's session...

The happy couple still haven't given us their list of chosen songs from our extensive repertoire so, today, we started off with a mock up of our 45 minute first set - which included five songs, Johnny B had never played before...

As usual, he stepped up admirably...

And, not only that but he had conquered the elusive opening figure from "Brown Sugar"...

Post those 10 songs, we moved on to trying out what will be the first dance...

Around 30 minutes was spent on this, of which 10 minutes of "ideas" proved salvageable...

As I write this on Tuesday evening, I've just spent some time playing the song on my own, along to the record and realised there was a rogue chord in my source re putting together the song sheet...

So that's sorted now (for me anyway)...

Post rehearsal we agreed the likely scenario is that the First Dance will be to the original through the PA, with us covering it later on in the evening...

Then, Loch Lomond - we blasted through this and, from the session, I was able to edit together all the elements to leave us with a reasonable 8 minutes of "fun"...

For the rest of the four hour session, we played through 15 of the songs included in our other three sets which John had not played with us yet (accidentally missing out "Rockin' in the Free World")...

In the seven sessions we've done as a band since John B joined, we've played 78 different songs and he's coped with them all admirably, including playing 20 songs today for the first time...

And so we played loadsa songs the rest of us had not played for almost a year, over a year or, in some cases, for the first time in two or three years...

Popped in on my mum on the way home...

Chaos was reigning re the carers and what they were supposed to do, with sister Sheila also in attendance...

Not good but the only way is up...

Home for 4 for Anne to go and pick up her mum while I started on the editing of the three hours (of the four) where we were actually playing...

While Anne and her mum watched the first half of Airdrie v Hearts in the cup (3-1 at half time), I worked away...

I finished around half time, with over an hour of "mucking about" excised......

Then it was time for one of Anne's tasty lasagnas...

....followed by coffee and biscuits...

While the ladies enjoyed the rest of the match I listened back to the finished "album" of today...

Final score, 4-1 to Hearts, with Morton away in the Quarter Final...

With Anne and her mum having "fired into the wine", I was in charge of the drive home...

Home for some relaxing Sunday night telly including, I think, another preposterous "Grantchester"...

And that was it for the weekend...

Highlight of the Day: Rehearsing...
