Up late...

Scenes...

Some work before heading out for breakfast...

...down the hill at Café Vigo...

This plate was very close to the camera...

...as was Anne's...

Some shopping...

...before walking back up the hill...

For some listening and ripping...

As I looked at the headphone socket on the CD player and thought “what’s the point - with no volume control, that’s far too loud to listen directly on phones”, I suddenly recalled my AKG 702s have a lower output than most...

I plugged them in...

Turns out they have exactly the correct reproductive volume so that, when plugged directly into the volume control-less Marantz CD41, they produce, for me, the ultimate listening experience, kind of…

Straight from the CD to my lugs! Look how happy that makes me!!

Today's acquisitions..

Art Pepper…

Nice…

Forgot what an absolute cracker Herb Alpert’s “A Taste of Honey” is (especially compared to that version by the “mop tops”). Followed by “Tijuana Taxi” (complete with entirely out of tune car horn honks) and “Spanish Flea”. Worth the 50p outlay for those 3 alone…

OK maybe still not

From the man who wrote the music for the National Anthem of the DDR, a year after having been expelled from the USA by the Committee on UnAmerican Activities’ witch hunt…

Then, with the "new" listening system, I sought out Rush's “Power Windows", my 2nd ever CD purchase, back in October 1985...

Sounded exactly as it did on the day I bought it...

Cos it's a CD…

"Perfect Sound Forever"…

The adjective that comes to mind for the opening slow section of the 1st movement of Telemann’s Overture in C Major “Wassermusik” is (Strictly Come Dancing-like pause)…Beautiful…

A break and into the attic to sort out the window covering we "installed" a couple of weeks back...

Then, on with the listening...

18th Century Overtures are, generally “delightful”. These works from 11 composers, under the baton of the excellently named Raymond Leppard, live up to the description…

Last “new” CD of the day. A disc of Rameau, on one of my fave classical labels, L’Oiseau-Lyre.  Lovely…

"Picard" watched and tea taken before heading out again, into the night...

...to our second field of dreams in 5 days...

Tonight, Hearts v St Mirren for a place in the semi final of the cup...

The St Mirren fans were noisy and boisterous...

The Hearts fans were checking their phones...

Off we go...

The St Mirren fans continued to be noisy...

But were soon silenced as Hearts went one and then...

...two up...

I did not record the reaction to St Mirren's top notch comeback to 2-1, which perked up their fans...

Before half time Hearts ought to have had a third as this scramble produced a shot which clattered off the bar...

At the close of the half though, Saints were looking for an equaliser...

It came early in the second half with an absolute raker of a shot which left goalie Craig Gordon standing watching as it whizzed past him into the net...

Now it was the turn of the Hearts fans to be silenced...

Anne thought the worst, I reckoned 3-2 Hearts...

And, eventually, a third came...

...followed by a fourth with a few minutes to go...

I couldn't help but feel sorry for St Mirren when that 3rd goal went in, after they'd fought back so hard to get level...

They were much better than expected...

All in all though, Hearts ran out worthy winners...

Hampden beckons once again...

A meet up with Brother in law Bob to give him a lift home...

Back at Crispycat Towers, "Superman & Lois Lane" entertained...

As did the goals from tonight...

A good Saturday...

Highlight of the Day : Out and about and a glorious Hearts win...
