Good morning...

Ripping CDs from yesterday's shopping spree, choosing the Top 10 of 1968, compiling the podcast, breakfasting, visiting my mum, attending the funeral of one of the mums from the street I lived on as a kid, reporting back to my mum as she can’t go, heading home, doing more stuff, recording the podcast...

That was the agenda...

Up in the dark...

Lights on and off we go...

Ripping...

Top ten of 1968 posted...

Breakfast...

Out to my mum's, where the timetable re her care and also, general not greatness, was precluding her from attending the funeral of her old friend (since 1968) Sheila Kirkwood...

She did however record a wee message for Sheila's sons, Colin and Kenny, which I sent to them...

The service was good, a whole life story - no singing due to Covid - and relayed to her daughter in law and grandkids in Australia...

Good to see my old neighbours Diane and Janette...

...and catching up with some of the "kids" from our childhood cul de sac...

Jude and her daughter - Jude is now a grandmother...

Alec Boyter and daughter Anne - while my mum is the last 1966 "original" on the street, Alec runs her a close second, having arrived around 1969/70...

Diane's husband Ian was looking good and as funny as ever...

Janette's husband David died back in 1997 while her more recent partner, a friend since her teens (and her first boyfriend), died six weeks ago from Covid...

Jude's brother, Scott, was...

...along with Kenny (now in Sydney but flown over for his mum's funeral)...

..and elder brother, Colin...

...the kids I played football with on the street fifty years ago...

Back to my mum's to relate the proceedings and give her the order of service...

An ice cream cone cheered her up...

I drove to Penicuik to swap the empty hip hop box from Wednesday's visit...

...for this...

Picked up Anne from her mum's on the way home...

Good skies as country music was ripped...

...and a new mix of the most recent CBQ piece was created to kick off this week's podcast...

A very tasty tea from Anne re her chicken tray bake...

The podcast and "Granchester" took up the remainder of the night, with half of the programme remaining to be recorded tomorrow morning...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : Seeing old chums although not under the best circumstances but then, like many people, there are people I only really see now at funerals...
